    Stocks

I would never buy Boeing now but much of that could be said about GE a few years ago (just with a much lower body count). Intel is likely better IMO. ***** Another approach I have been doing is keeping an eye on the S&P and NASDAQ additions and deletions. Trying to guess additions before the are...

    Stocks

I am self managed for RRSP and TFSA. The wife uses an investment guy. I do look over her investments and I have taken a few queues from her holdings (areas I never even thought of)... Not stocks but funds, ETFs, etc. they are using that have consistent good returns. I usually won't use the exact...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

That was all the film I had left. Even then I had to cut each one 1/4" short to get the full window width... I want to see how well it holds up through the seasons. It is not very expensive to redo at some point.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

There is still some work to do on the window, paint and other stuff (in the spring now) but I needed to get the cardboard off of it. This is my home office window... The "stained glass" along the top of the window is a film that sticks to the window without adhesive, this was left over from...

    Christmas Gift Ideas 2024 Addition

Some I have come up with so far... -Ceramic xmas tree, those old style ones that are 12 to 15 inches tall that light up. Many of us may remember them from our childhoods. The wife was reminiscing about the memories of her grandparent's one when she was a kid, I found a plug in one on Amazon...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Why would management not be in a rush to resolve.... hypothetical. I can't say for sure for Canada Post but when a company is bleeding money and the employees go on strike...many times the company then starts bleeding less money as opex drops way down and the end quarter(s) will look much...

    Bike lane removal

The really dumb part for Bloor... There is enough room through the Kingsway area (the area that triggered all the rage, wealthy people et al) that a bidirectional bike lane could be on the south side AND still have four lanes for cars AND still have parking on the north side. The first problem...

Has the city lost it's mind...

It is possible but he was speaking to her in English and she did not even acknowledge I was even there one way or another.

    Bike lane removal

Actually I believe you can if they (recently) made modifications to the roadway and those modifications made it dangerous for motorcycles (sort of negligence). Proving it might be hard... including was it the actual cause.

Has the city lost it's mind...

A what would you do... sort of bugging me now. TL.DR, partner assault, women did not want help from me, so I left. A few days ago outside the LCBO (I was in the car on my way in when it happened) I see a guy shove a women to the ground (hard), they appeared to be "together" and arguing...

"Back brake only, you'll crash if you use your front brake!"

Drum brakes... the first anti-lock brakes, just analogue.

"Back brake only, you'll crash if you use your front brake!"

I sit on the clutch in gear until a car stops behind me and then relax into neutral.

"Back brake only, you'll crash if you use your front brake!"

On the Cabot Trail many moons ago we were going up one of the steeper sections and there was a large "US Brand" motorcycle wedged into/under a guard rail on the up lane side. Luckily no one seemed seriously injured other than the bike, wallet and likely some good bruises. There was one...

    GST/HST Holiday

To be fair... if it is to help out people maybe help out those that need it most (lowest or no income). But we know it is about buying votes just like Doug's $200. BTW both the Block and NDP are in favour last I saw, just with more... Checks are in the mail, ooops :)

    Canada Post - Huge losses

I do not see CP being very viable after this (or I guess even less viable is more accurate). People will need it even less as everyone adjusts: bills, invoices, flyers, parcels go even more to alternative options and that will be sticky the longer this goes on. As noted I was one of those...

    COVID and the housing market

Around us it is common as boomers are aging out. The house is in good shape and very well maintained but many of the mechanicals are way out of date, plus old-timey/original kitchen and bathrooms. K&T, galvanized and maybe lead plumbing, old boiler, likely some tasty asbestos--they mostly need...

    COVID and the housing market

If you look back in Google that new front door was in fact a window, back in Feb 2021 it was a window. I was thinking the same thing that this was a detached house that somehow got split into a semi. That split would be an issue for the lawyer to check into. Deeper looking, along the driveway...

    New?? U-Haul Policies

That was the old policy many years ago, they also had a must be back in 90 minutes at one time. Back then we would actually just buy a 2X4 and then go move whatever we needed, in a rush, all for $20 plus the 2X4. Now (at least most locations, I can't say all) they just rent the vans with a 90...

    COVID and the housing market

Here is an interesting Toronto semi: 44 Branstone Road--Asking 599K listed as-is but looks OKish in the pics with some minor flipper flags (so why as-is??). https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/27656160/44-branstone-road-toronto-caledonia-fairbank-caledonia-fairbank Area is IMO not too bad, just...

    New?? U-Haul Policies

More research... apparently they call this Truck Share 24/7. So that is the thing to watch out for. They require the app with tracking on and two of the following: Additional Contact - Will be Called & Verified Employment - Will be Called & Verified Relative's Information - Will be Called &...
