    Is this accurate?

Generally, a "XX km/hr ends" sign means that the road reverts back to the default Ontario speed limit which is 80km/hr, or 50km/hr if you're in an urban area. I have no idea how you're supposed to determine which type of area you're in. I like these two signs 200 meters from each other just...

    Overbearing electronics

Back when I was still riding dirt bikes, I'd find an open sandy spot (not hard in Ganaraska), hold the throttle partly open and apply front brake until the front wheel was just barely turning and plowing through the sand. It was extended threshold braking which you could ride out as long as the...

    Is this accurate?

I like looking through obscure crap, but that is too much for me. :) Someone with a lot of time on their hands would have to go through each state and province's highway legislation and provide references to the relevant listed offence. And in cases where it's not an explicit offence in the...

    Is this accurate?

The link to the official Highway Traffic Act and the section on "Overtaking and passing rules" is in post #3: Law Document English View The HTA generally does not say what is permissible, it only says what is an offence. Therefore, there isn't an explicit statement that passing on a double...

Where do you guys go for new tires?

Basic equipment consists of: A sturdy workbench so you don't have to bend down Some sort of support or stand on the workbench to hold the wheel in place so you aren't putting pressure on the brake rotors. An old car wheel with tape or rubber hose around the rim will work. A length of threaded...

    Is this accurate?

True for Ontario, as best as I have been able to determine: Law Document English View There are offences listed for specific passing scenarios, like: but there's nothing about solid or dashed lines. In general, my understanding is that painted road markings in Ontario are not legally...

Q: Did watching racing on Sunday sell you a bike on Monday?

World or national-level race results have had no effect on my purchase decisions for street bikes. There's very little overlap between what I want from a street bike and what makes a good platform for winning races. Local race results are influencing my current shopping, but only because I have...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Take a bunch of pictures of the process, and start a new thread where we can tell you everything you did wrong. Then start a new thread in Project Tutorials under a different username when you're ready to sell, and just post all the steps as though you'd done it correctly the first time. Send...

    2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 And YZF-R1M

Ok, I made a mistake by looking up those King of the Baggers bikes. I was already thinking about getting a new track bike and a new R1 looks like an absolute bargain in comparison, so maybe I need to unsubscribe from this thread until the urge subsides. Indian sold something very close to their...

    2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 And YZF-R1M

The comment was made in jest, but now I'm wondering about the numbers. How many CVO does HD sell at $53k CAD, versus how many R1 ($23k CAD) or R1M ($32k CAD) does Yamaha sell? In terms of profit margin, should Yamaha be selling a King of the Baggers model instead of a superbike?

    2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 And YZF-R1M

What, the CVO Road Glide isn't enough for you?! Linked at the bottom of the King of the Baggers page: It's got a high-performance camshaft, race-inspired high-performance air intake, and elevated 5,900 RPM redline!

    Winter Motorcycle Plans?

Tech requirements vary by organization. Shannonville's checklist is here: Motorcycle Lapping Day Rules – Shannonville Motorsport Park It's not on the list, but the darkside tire will probably not pass tech. Antifreeze is not permitted, but I've never had mine actually checked by any org. That's...

    Winter Motorcycle Plans?

Yup, and you'll get a bunch of thumbs-up from everyone in the pits too. The Shannonville novice days should be especially welcoming.

    Winter Motorcycle Plans?

A track school is a good idea, but Shannonville has a handful of "novice only" days throughout the season if you just want to dip your toe in: Motorcycle Lapping Days – Shannonville Motorsport Park They also run evening sessions on some Tuesdays: Two-Wheel Tuesday – Shannonville Motorsport Park

    2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 And YZF-R1M

I was curious how much a replacement winglet would cost, but the 2025 models with the wings aren't listed yet in the parts fiche. But for comparison, one side panel for the 2024 models without wings is $500 for the standard R1. The same panel in carbon fibre is almost $6000 for the R1M.

    2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 And YZF-R1M

I didn't read closely enough the first time to see that the R1 also got them. Yeah, that's just for fashion. Even if you're going to put one on the track the first thing you do is swap the expensive fragile OEM fairings with some fiberglass ones.

    2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 And YZF-R1M

Aside from catering to a particular fashion sense, I believe that winglets exist on the R1M (and ZX-10RR, and M1000RR) so that they are homologated and can be used in various superbike race series that care about such things.

    New Chain & Sprockets: 2019 Tracer 900GT

I've been using RK chains and rivet tool, mostly because they make it easy to decode the intended application for their various chain designations and they provide rivet flare dimensions for each.

    What are you currently playing?

I haven't played VGA Planets, but I have played a tiny bit of 'Stars!' which looks extremely similar. It's before my time, but I'm curious if anyone here has ever played the play-by-mail (paper mail, not e-mail!) predecessors of these sorts of games? A couple of years ago I tried Stellaris, but...
