What did you do in your garage today..?

Yup. Unless the temps are over 25*C, my heated grips are always on at least 50% power. Smallish handguards help quite a bit with the wind, but for me HippoHands are needed for anything approaching 5*C or lower.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

There's a relief valve on there that shouldn't be enclosed, but I suspect that a lot of these get covered up with a lattice box. I'm surprised that your meter is so close to a window. I couldn't find the Ontario building code requirements, but this guide from Alberta suggests that there should...

    New DRZ-4S and DRZ-4SM

You can still use the 28+ year old DR650SE, which returns unchanged for Canada in 2025.

What did you do in your garage today..?

I've added a nearly-new 2024 Ninja 500 to the stable. The price was actually fairly decent, since it's a base model and it has some superficial scuffs on one side from a parking lot tipover. I pulled off all of the lights and fairings today, since it's going to become a race/trackbike. It will...

    KTM's in trouble ?

I could see that working to acquire a dirt portfolio, but Ducati and KTM both being under the VW umbrella would make for a very weird MotoGP season competing directly against each other. Dorna can't afford to let another major manufacturer disappear, especially when Ducati is already dominating.

    Rabaconda tire changer

These could work, but I eventually discarded the hitch idea because if I absolutely needed a lever bead breaker I'd just mount it directly to the open trailer deck. A 1" pipe and pipe floor flange makes a very sturdy removable upright upon which the bead breaker arm could hinge. That also...

    Rabaconda tire changer

I've seen setups like this, and considered getting a hitch vise plate to rig up my own. I experimented with using a long bar as a bead breaker simply hinged/wedged under the current hitch bar, with the wheel on the ground. But I found the soft suspension on my car deflected so much that any...

    Rabaconda tire changer

Yup, the arm is just a bead breaker. I still use a big C-clamp for bead breaking when I'm changing tires at the track, since the stand is too bulky to fit in my car. The bead breaker/stand is somewhat faster and easier than screwing and unscrewing the C-clamp multiple times around the rim, but...

    Rabaconda tire changer

Ok, I think that Amazon ad that I linked in my previous post might be getting a little ambitious with the gravel hauler in their picture :ROFLMAO:

    Rabaconda tire changer

Same here. I didn't realize that Pro6 tire changes were so cheap (as low as $20 at the track if you buy their Dunlops), but I still like to mount my own at home to be absolutely sure I've got what I need to make it through the weekend. It's not as big a deal on the street bikes, but the amount...

How much steering rotation lock to lock?

It's hard to measure with the tools I've got, but it looks like I have about double the angle that Brian has. About 30 degrees from centre each way.

How much steering rotation lock to lock?

No idea of my actual steering angle, but I've taped & wired pieces of 1/8" aluminum flat stock to the OEM steering stops on my trackbike so the brake/clutch levers won't contact the fairing. The aluminum also provides a soft crush zone in case of a crash. I've also heard of people using stick-on...

Hauling double trailer with Pick up?

I'm not a lawyer, but the more I learn about the common law system the wilder it gets. You might not ever get an answer to your question in your lifetime because unless someone amends the HTA to be clearer, the ambiguity of the law is kind of like Schrodinger's cat. It's only proved one way or...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

https://electrek.co/2024/10/16/major-electric-motorcycle-maker-energica-files-for-bankruptcy/ Energica supplied the spec-series MotoE bikes for a handful of years. The bikes were noticeably very heavy compared to the other GP classes and the screaming of the front tire under braking was a very...

    Power leads for heated gear

99% chance that the standard ring terminal lead is what you want. The Mobile Warming "Dual Power" gear appears to be 12v automotive and/or 12v portable battery. I'm not even sure that the 7.4v stuff existed prior to 2018. Either way, it would be a really bad design choice for them to use the...

    Power leads for heated gear

Most 12v heated gear uses 5.5mm (OD) x 2.5mm (pin) coaxial connectors, so it is likely to work. The female (bike) side. The male (vest) side. Not sure what their 7.4V stuff uses. Note that 5.5 x 2.1mm DC coaxial connectors also exist, so there is some uncertainty if you're just eyeballing it.

    New Yamaha R9 Released!

When Graves published the dyno graph for an unrestricted ZX4R I went to the trouble of overlaying it on the dyno graph of an MT-07 in good old MSPaint for fun. Same peak horsepower, same wet weight between those two bikes. It ended up looking a lot like the MT-09 + GSX-R 600 graph, but I'm very...

    New Yamaha R9 Released!

Yup. Lies, damned lies, statistics, and horsepower numbers, as they say.

    New Yamaha R9 Released!

Yeah, but then you'd have to own a Suzuki... The R9 will inherit the space that the R6 currently occupies. The dyno comparing the CP3 with a 600cc is very favourable towards the CP3: A site or app that takes arbitrary dyno graphs and scales/overlays them together properly would be really...

    Overbearing electronics

My wife was involved in a classic SMIDSY left-turning car at an intersection collision. She braked hard but still struck the car fender. ABS on her bike meant that she was still upright at the moment of impact, so she went over the bars and rolled over the hood. Her hips were messed up for a...
