Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Pay someone. Specialty stuff like that I’m happy to pay someone and save money somewhere else.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Depends on how big the hole is. If it’s a few inches like covering a old power plug hole that’s not there anymore and too small to get wood behind I’d do a “Italian patch” “don’t k ow if that’s correct term, an old contractor told me that) cutting a scrap piece of drywall a few inches bigger...

Buying a vehicle (non motorcycle) as is from private vs dealer

Might save a few dollars buying someone else’s 20+year old truck buy I don’t miss working on rusted old machines or chasing random sensor issues. I did a brake service on the wife’s 2020 Odyssey yesterday and it’s so nice working on something spotless and still new underneath.

    GPS vs Phone

I’ve seen a few of the KTM ADV guys with the Carpuride units and they seem to like them. I see you can find them at good prices on Amazon. I had a BMW Navigator VI on my last bike (BMW) and now have a XT on my KTM. Other than not being able to control it with the wheel I like everything about...

Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

Rambo II - Classic Rambo movie where he gets sent to observe only and gets into trouble. Hot Asian woman is his military contact of course. Gladiator II - Not as good as the first. Watchable but not one I'd ever bother to see again. John Wick II - Still a good one after all these years.

    Are you Rotella or Motul?

I use Liqui-Moly sometimes. If you get it at Fortnine keep an eye on price difference between one 5L jug and five 1L as getting the five 1L is often cheaper for some reason.

    Are you Rotella or Motul?

Shell Advance 4T: https://www.shell.com/motorist/oils-lubricants/advance-for-motorcycles/advance-4-stroke-motorcycle-oil/shell-advance-ultra.html It's motorcycle specific and cheaper than Rotella. $16L regular price at Princess or Napa.

Motorcycle mistakes you only make once... and ones you make all the time...

Motorcycle mistakes I only make once: Wrenching on my bike when I'm tired. - Wife had girls over so I went to the garage to work on the something on the kickstand side of my bike while low on sleep. Had a board under the kickstand to give me a bit more room on that side and had the front tire...

    COVID and the housing market

I don't wish defaults on anyone but if they bought without cash wiggle room that's their fault. If it nets me a lightly used Corvette at a discount price from their garage I won't be upset about it.

Buying a vehicle (non motorcycle) as is from private vs dealer

Truck yeah! Congrats! I have the Bak Revolver X4S and its excellent. It fits flush and looks great and rolls up out of the way quickly and easily. It has rails along the sides for the racks. Good warranty as well. I just looked for it on sale online then had my local Action Truck store match...

Motorcycle mistakes you only make once... and ones you make all the time...

Helmet on, gloves on, start bike, why’s it so loud? Bah earplugs still in my pocket.

    Some motorcycle history

The original faired Goldwing was indeed “gold” and this is a tribute to that. I think it looks beautiful and would happily take one over another lame blacked out thing.

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

To be fair, it probably does run great. May not look the best but he’ll likely get $2k for it. There was a pair of cleaner ones on Marketplace this week for around $7k and they went fast.

What did you do in your garage today..?

They seem to have perfected it in 17 as I’ve seen lots since then just like my 18 and it starts the instant the button is pressed. Love it.

What did you do in your garage today..?

No the E-starter bendix. They can fail and cause damage to the cover and should be checked for wear. Easy/cheap fix, just a wear item to check that some don't think about. Upgraded bushings are brass. https://www.thumpertalk.com/forums/topic/1320962-2017-starter-bendix-bush-upgrade/

    Long lived high mileage rides

Most motorcycle engine/trans are built strong enough they'll go reliably for hundreds of thousands of miles with just regular maintenance. It's parts around it that'll likely need replacement or repair here and there and it's like that for every bike because seals will rot and fail as will...
