Test rides on A couple of GS's

Given the choice between buying the wrong bike and having to switch out suspension, rims and tires, and buying the right bike and buying an aftermarket passenger seat, the latter is probably the cheaper and more logical option. Changing out the stock seat to something more comfortable is...

MotoGP 2025 Discussion Thread *Warning: Spoilers allowed*

Imagine listening to an audio-only track of your bike going up and down the rev range, the upshifts and downshifts... and then being able to tell which track it's taken from... Trying to figure out if this is easy or difficult for a professional racer. Can other racers do this too? I mean...

Victim of the exchange rate and high season for a tourist destination, I'm afraid. We were in Ouray, CO a couple of summers ago, no reservations, just rolled in. Last minute hotel rooms were $500 CAD/night. Camping takes the edge off, but not by much. We paid $60/night for camping. For CAMPING.

I think @AllistonGT also has a Beemer, might want to ping him as well.

    Rogers launches satellite-to-mobile service

So my buddy who is also in the Beta pointed out to me that Rogers Satellite coverage is Canada only. We do so many international trips, that I may be forced to keep the Garmin subscription. :( The SOS satellite beacon vendors may still have a bit more life left in them.

Test rides on A couple of GS's

Brian, you remember the Thunder class at CSBK? My buddy used to run a R1200S in that series. Best sounding class IMO. Also BMW had a special race series call the Boxer Cup. One of my favorite bikes, the HP2 Sport came out of that series. I think they're still running the Boxer Cup, but with...

East is easy. Kawarthas -> Ottawa Valley -> Tremblant/Eastern Townships. Lots of great twisty roads in that corridor.

SW of GTA would be like London/Sarnia/Windsor. Pretty crap riding in that area. 🤷‍♂️

PA seems like the logical choice. If you're open to going east, then VT and NH have some great riding.

Test rides on A couple of GS's

Correct. 2024 F800GS: 895cc/87hp/91Nm 2024 F900GS: 895cc/105hp/93Nm Same engine, just detuned for the F800GS. From The new 2024 BMW F 800 GS, F 900 GS, and F 900 GS Adventure. Only apparent if you off-road a lot. The 800/850/900 has a 21" front for rolling over obstacles a lot more...

    Rogers launches satellite-to-mobile service

Wow! This satellite->cell service works amazingly well! Couple of gotchas though. We didn't roam far enough from civilization, so I was still able to get Emergency 9-1-1 cell signal from another provider, but no calls, text or data. Because my primary provider was able to lock onto...

Test rides on A couple of GS's

The nomenclature is a bit confusing. The initial 800cc parallel twin from 2008 was split into two streams: a street oriented F650GS and a more dirt-oriented F800GS. Same engine, just that the F650GS was detuned and mislabeled a 650. Owners distinguished the parallel twin F650GS from the...

Couldn't get a boost to save my life

Was out in the trails and ran into a guy who took his old, worn-out car out there. Battery or starter died in the middle of nowhere on a gravel road. Four of us got off our dirtbikes and pushed the car up a hill at considerable effort on our part in the blistering heat, tried to help him bump...

What a major F-up wrt tire pressures. Turns out Bagnaia had a faulty dash and the tire pressure warning he received was incorrect. He dropped a place (which then turned into three places) for nothing. Agree with the commentators: "This isn't racing!"
