When we do these rides we don't really have a set schedule or plan.
Al we have is a start/end date and a place to store the truck & trailer.
So we don't know where we'll be at the end of each day...hence the camping 😊
To me and my buddies that's part of the adventure ;)
Done a few BDRs.
We like to ride them from start to finish and find a storage place near the middle.

When I moved to Canada back in 1992 I had 60 days to get my drivers license.
When I took the test it was in a compound on Airport Rd in Brampton.
I remember thinking 'wow this is a joke compared to the test I had to take back in Belgium'
IMHO depends on your bike, battery location, on/off road, usage of bike.
In my case the battery is where on most bikes the gas tank is, at the top behind the handlebars.
