    At one time you would have been right. Though further reading has indicated you may use less battery with a dark screen on an oled screen (though more battery than a led/LCD screen)

    There is a member of the forum that retired (it still runs) his vstrom 650 after 212,000km. He is now on his 3rd vstrom. In the USA there is a guy that has retired his vstrom after 400,000miles and nothing more than regular maintenance. If maintained the bike should last.
