If its a none oring chain then clean away with whatever, then lube. The lubing of a non oring chain actually does something. Unlike an oring chain, where it just keeps the rust off the outside.
All the lube is inside the links, held in by the orings. Damage the orings and the grease comes out. Anything that damages an oring does more harm then good.
No one raced the rz500 because the expansion cambers hit the ground when turning and they were slow compared to the RG. There is no 400 now that would even be close to an RG 500 however. Unless there was no staights.lol Bias ply tires back then .
If you thought an Fz09 was a bit hard to ride, than its a good thing you never tried an RG 500. LOL. Had good riders ask to ride mine, never asked for a second go.
These are all good and low traffic. The top of the trail is a little rough but the rest is good. A section of 30 from margaree to baddeck is rough the rest is new.
