    Thoughts on CB500F?

If you end up going with the 300r that is a big chunk of change to spend on a bike, especially a 300. Very nice bike though. In a few years, someone is going to love you for taking the big hit on depreciation! I have a hard time paying for a brand new bike when so many well maintained and...

    Super Tenere

The Tenere is very popular among LD riders for good reason. They are very comfortable, very reliable and plenty of fun. Slap on some panniers, a top box and a GPS and the only thing holding you back from riding to California is your wallet and your vacation allotment!

    Thoughts on CB500F?

I see an old Ride for Sight pin on there but the year bar is flipped up! What year was that, WingBoy?

    Thoughts on CB500F?

Given the reaming you're already taking on the insurance, go with the smallest bike that you can be happy with. Paying $300/month for insurance is crazy, I know because I payed similar rates to what you're paying now back in my day (which would probably be the same as paying $300+/month now)...

Looking at bikes, getting back into riding again

Well, 9 pages of responses but what the heck. Why not add one more! With the exception of the Z750, all of the bikes you listed are in the same realm as far as performance, reliability, and cost are concerned. Depending on the year, most have versions available well under your $5k price cap...

    Lightest smallest bike available

Have you considered a Tomos moped? They were popular here in the late 90's early 2000's. Would fit your needs. Or, you could try a Sachs MadAss 125. I had one for a few years and enjoyed it. 125cc, 4 speed, will go 100km/h in full tuck down hill, 200lbs wet and they are very narrow.

    Waterproof Gear

I can say that I've had a set of Frogg Toggs for several years now and ridden through many long, hard days of rain out east. My only complaint was that after a few hours there was a spot in the crotch that leaks through. I could probably buy some seam sealer stuff or spray treatment to help...

Butt hurts when sitting on bike after certain period

When it comes to rider comfort, no group knows more about it that the IronButt Association. Now, if you've ever spent any time in an IBA forum you know that there isn't much that they will all agree on. Everyone of them has a different solution for every problem but there is one thing that...

    Royal Distributing Tent Sale

Mine is much more of a taco and pastry belly as apposed to a beer belly. That said, the Klim gear fit me fine except it all fits a little long in the sleeves and in the legs (even with the "short" version of the pants) but most gear is like that for me.

    Royal Distributing Tent Sale

I'm a middle aged dude who rides an ST1300 as an escape from driving a minivan and attending endless tea parties. Its been so long now that I don't even remember what it feels like to be cool!

    Royal Distributing Tent Sale

True, it definitely wasn't cheap. I figure I could justify it since I bought my last jacket in the winter of '03 at the bike show, so I'm sure I'll be wearing this Klim suit until I'm about ready to retire from work! Also, it's SLIGHTLY less obscene when you factor in the rain suit you no...

    Is it just me???

I had a similar story many years ago. I noted on a routine inspection of my Virago that the swing arm had some lateral play in it when it absolutely should not. After consulting with a buddy we figured it was the swing arm bearing. I went to my local Yamaha shop (long gone now) and told them...

Do I really need an ABS ?

For what it's worth, I rode the first 19ish years of my motorcycling life without ABS and came out unscathed. Probably has a lot more to do with random luck than any sort of skill on my part. Not having ABS would not be a deal breaker for me, but seeing as my new bike is well over 700lbs with...

    Royal Distributing Tent Sale

I popped in after work Saturday . Turns out they are not a Klim dealer even though Klim's website has them listed as a dealer. Went up the street to GP Bikes' no tax sale and picked up a Klim Latitude jacket and pants. Pants had to be ordered in and will take 1-2 weeks apparently but the No...

    GPS Died replacement recommendations

I keep saying I' going to invest in a GPS as I am famous for getting myself lost because I'm paying more attention to the scenery than the name of the road I am turning onto! I often find myself somewhere nowhere near where I was planning on riding to! Sometimes this isn't a problem, other...

    10kish or less bike

The two bikes that come to mind are a the Ninja 1000 and GSX-S1000F. Both can be found a couple of years old for $10k and will definitely satisfy your desire for more "oomph". Both will be comfortable on longer spirited rides. However, if you're concerned about cramped knees the Versys 1000...

    Proof I did it again!

The guy who set the Canada Coast to Coast record did this. I believe his name is Thane Silliker. I don't remember his time, but he set the record several years ago and I don't believe anyone has come close to touching it since. He did it on his ST1100 which now has somewhere around 500k on...
