Getting up 13 today. Who's riding?

    Probably today for me.

Bike of last resort for me... they're heavy for offroad use and that's where I'll be using whatever I end up with. I sure like the maintenance on them, though... keep the oil topped up, beat on it until you wear yourself out.

I almost made an impulse buy on a KTM 500 EXC with a separate set of road wheels. But I really don't need another street bike, I put maybe 5K a year on the one I have (and I downsized from two last year for that reason).

I've been trying to find a 450-class trail / offroad bike that isn't a motocross bike. Don't want the maintenance and I'd like a kickstand, thanks. Or a 250-class two stroke of course.

    More authoritarianism Bill C-63

Uh, duh. This doesn't need to be said. Obviously there's going to be court involved. EDIT: but fines can be levied without court, and you do not have the right to meet your accuser in either case. They can charge you with it, and the sentence is up to and including life. Are you SERIOUSLY...

Except that it's not. It says right in the bill that fines and imprisonment right up to life in prison are possible for an offense "motivated by hatred." Or are we not to believe their own words? Are you saying that we should just not worry about it, because no reasonable judge would do...

    More authoritarianism Bill C-63

Nah, you claim I don't have sources, I named two already. I'm not your librarian, and you're on the wrong side of logic and history here. You haven't pointed out a single thing that's wrong and we both know why.

    More authoritarianism Bill C-63

The only nonsense here is you claiming that it's nonsense. The bill is clear and I've now heard three different lawyers walk through the bill. It is exactly as I described it. I've also read the take of Peter Menzies and Michael Geist, among others. You saying it's not means nothing: quote...

    More authoritarianism Bill C-63

Defending this bill not only makes a person desperately stupid, but also a terrible person. This has nothing to do with the right wing and everything to do with pre-crime and monetised incentives to turn your fellow man in for crimes of free speech.

    BMW M1000R Daily Rider review

Some people are feeding back that the 1390 is so powerful that it can be a little boring. Like the motorcycle is daunted by nothing, with the newly expanded rev range etc., it's actually too capable. I don't see that as a barrier myself... Got to admit, the M1000R is a cool super hooligan...

    Torque & Horsepower Explained

Horsepower is very useful in racing (and general performance). Yes it's a weird math function but looking at a graph of horsepower output, one can determine both where the power output falls off enough to shift optimally and where to gear the final drive for the purpose of the vehicle -...

    Torque & Horsepower Explained

I bought a bike this year that has more than enough of both, and honestly that's all I really care about. A little excess is just enough. OK OK yes a lot of people don't understand the two or how they relate. The primary thing to remember is that horsepower isn't a thing, it's an algorithmic...

    More authoritarianism Bill C-63

This bill cannot pass. It: Redefines things that already exist in law today for no discernable reason. Defines hate speech and gives over authority to government to define that, by a group of people who will be hired with DEI practices. Expect blue-haired bureaucrats that are offended by...

    1390 superduke review

It sure looks like the new dog can hunt. The only thing I really want from the 1390 that my 1290 doesn't have is that new gearbox. The extra power is of course welcome, but certainly not something I care much about... big twins are all about riding the torque wave.

Shame On Bell In A Booming Economy

I'm more amazed that anyone is surprised about this. Bell, especially under Bibic, is about the most evil company you can imagine. You should hear the stories about how hard they try to nickle-and-dime their technical staff, and how they'll try to buy you out about every 6 months once you hit...

    Carbon emissions

They might have got the money through SWIFT etc. and Bell refuses to share any infrastructure with anyone, so they probably dropped out but spend big money anyway because they also don't want to be put out to pasture. I had a build project set up for Prince Edward County, and the municipality...

    Carbon emissions

Apparently the number is $480M. If so, the average income for the number of people doing it is $177K/year. This was released about two weeks ago by FOI. I find it hard to believe that they could spend that, but here we are. I agree with the rest.

    Did you exercise today?

No. I might be on Covid #6. Not sure, but I run out of breath just going up stairs, and have to cough out a shot glass of the good stuff. Soon enough, though. I just started doing deadlifts again after a three month layoff.
