Has anyone else been sick more than normal this winter?

    Heck, I take 5000.

Has anyone else been sick more than normal this winter?

Seasonal affective disorder. Really common in the colder climes. Mine also goes away when I'm in a warmer clime.

Has anyone else been sick more than normal this winter?

I've had what the KGH calls "the 100 day cough" and on week 7 now. It's nowhere near as bad as the first two weeks, but I'm still coughing up a cheesesteak hoagie at least twice a day.

    Car Deal TikTok/Youtuber

Oooh ... let me guess. Are the initials MI? Probably not, he's usually more respectful of the rules. But...

I would likely to highly recommend a book

Vass Bednar gave a fantastic presentation at our (CanWISP) conference last week in Gatineau and I can't recommend this book enough even though I have some political disagreements with it. It's just impressive. The Big Fix - Denise Hearn & Vass Bednar

    What are you reading?

I was a kid with extended Smith's Falls family in the Choice; they let us hang around and no harm would ever come to us or there'd be war. And I was there as a kid in Prince Edward County when they went to Mercer's house in limousines and signed over their patches to the Hell's Angels (not sure...

Excellent book and a reference for years, perhaps.

Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

I watched Nosferatu the other day. I liked the extreme creepiness and relative simplicity of it, but it still doesn't "beat" Coppola's Dracula. The idea of an ugly, disgusting vampire does probably fit better with the original concept of them. And man, the story about the original movie and...

    Fuller story behind KTMs troubles

Yeah, I really wanted the tech pack for my 1290R after the first 850km of riding (then straight to Deal's Gap). I just like having a quickshifter and having tried the bike without any traction control, I can tell you that it needs some. A super duke will spin that tire everywhere if you're on...

Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

The Gorge was watchable. Katherine and I felt it was a "turn your brain off and just watch" kind of movie for the most part. It felt like a 90s movie to me, if that makes any sense. Now, Section 31, both of us noped out on it about 15 minutes in. K is a major ST fan and we suffered through...

    Who's gonna tell him?

The SDTC scandal is what is holding up Parliament right now. If that gets blown open, I won't be surprised to find a billion dollars or more that were diverted to businesses owned by Liberal MPs and their friends/family/supporters. As it stands right now, they found nearly $500M that...

    Who's gonna tell him?

SNC Lavelin itself also has a part of this, whether they reported that because of the subsidiary or not, I don't know.

Anyone do the laser eye thing?

Yep, that was me. Lots of burning pain the second time around. I listened to Joe Perry's audiobook that he wrote about Aerosmith to get me through it. My eyes stayed dry for a few months and then stopped... sometimes though, I wake up in the morning and they feel "scratchy" even a decade later.

Anyone do the laser eye thing?

My first pass didn't take. The second time around is a LOT more painful. They have to peel your half-healed eye flap back again, and man ... like being stabbed in the eyes for day, and got to keep yourself lying on your back for a week. Point being, when I got the "bandage contacts" out, I...

    Who's gonna tell him?

OK wow... I just did a bit of a dive into this high speed rail: $4B estimated cost to JUST plan and "develop," then the actual construction can be started - 5 years from now (probably more) and with a total estimated cost of $80B. Now, ask yourself why I originally posted on this thinking that...

    Who's gonna tell him?

Given the cost (roughly $4B), consider that we could have built this many times over with the waste of money the Liberals have spent on all sorts of things. For example, $2B loan to Telesat that has no product or business but does have Mark Carney as a "good friend" of Telesat.

Why don't car enthusiasts complain about 'nannies?' Or do they!?

I turn mine on "partial ESC" on the 911. Lets me get a little rear rotation under power (and off power too lol) but turns both chassis control and traction control to a lowered setting. It can also be turned entirely off if drifting is your thing.

What happens if KTM goes bust?

I still say that my 1290R super duke is one of the best bikes ever made, full stop. I am invested in it and not planning to sell at this point. Guess I'll just have to hold out faith that KTM will either survive or will be purchased and give me at least another 5 years of parts.

    Mouse Blocker

I've caught four mice in my garage this week. I think that cleared them out and I have looked around to find a nest to no avail. I got one in the workshop, it's about 1300sq per level and I make sure that everything that might smell like food is gone by fall. They don't seem to care at all...

Are you switching to Windows 11?

Maybe. I haven't turned on one in years, which has me a bit nervous about that assessment.
