The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

If one wheel is off the ground (or on ice) and spinning (open dif) apply some brakes to get some power to go to the other wheel (assuming it is not in the same situation and has some traction). Modern traction control should do the same thing just more fancy but not always as good when stuck.

I always felt flying is too cheap....

When booking flights always clear cookies constantly when looking at rates, visiting the same site over and over. Some sites will keep jacking up the costs as you keep searching them. Clear cookies and you are back to the lower rates. We have seen this many times, you are looking for flights and...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

As for using gig workers and flex. Canada Post delivers government documents, etc. are there any hurdles giving this to fly by night gig-workers? Regular couriers I could see being fine, but wildwest gig-workers??? Maybe a non-issue or at least something that needs to be worked out.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Well it could be worse, we had a guy at work that would break out his "golden screwdriver" and tweak some RF equipment at the end of his shift on Friday when he was on-call for the weekend. It would take a few hours for the complaints to build and then he would get called out (same min four...

I always felt flying is too cheap....

Most planes do not have enough overhead bin capacity to have a spot for every seat, unless they dramatically reduce overhead bin luggage size. It will also be worse on the airlines that reduce seating pitch to get more cattle on.

I always felt flying is too cheap....

When I come across the only fit sideways oversized carry on bags I just turn them the right way and put mine beside it. The overhead bin won't close now so it forces the flight attendant and owner to deal with it before departure. **** Personally I hate flying these days. I had a women behind me...

    GST/HST Holiday

China is a the world leader in renewable and clean energy. While we may not agree with our local approach I will never understand why anyone would want China to just own this... Yes they also still generate A LOT of dirty electricity but they understand that it is not sustainable in the long run...

    Local Auto Thefts

For near no noise and fast, breaker bar and then a battery drill to remove the lug muts. All the noise will be rim removal...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

We have a mail slot in our front door. We got a note from Canada Post that the slot was 2 inches too low and they were going to stop delivery until we fixed it so we ended up installing a mailbox on the wall (I wasn't going to butcher the 80 year old wood front door to raise the slot). To be...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I revived our 16 year old Weber BBQ on the weekend (propane). The crossover tube rotted out and some of the flavour bars were rotted out. Weber does not sell just the xover bar--only a full burner set and I figured the burners only had a couple of years left so I went with replacement Weber...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

When I had a Jeep (YJ) I would take it mudding and then spread some mud on the plate during the NDP photo radar days... I did get pulled over by the OPP, he walked up with a rag and wiped off the mud on the plate and sent me on my way, did not even come to the window.

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Super boxes are all fine and dandy until they put it on your front or side yard... When that happens to you I imagine everyone becomes a whiner.

    Stocks

Be very careful holding a stock that pays out more in dividends than they make in earnings. Even more so if it is by a large margin and it has been like that for a long time. The money to pay out those fat dividends comes from somewhere.... and it is not sustainable. Even more so if it is also...

    Christmas Gift Ideas 2024 Addition

The sheer volume of emails I am getting from stores is crazy over the last week+ and more so today. Do they really need to send me 10 Black Friday emails per day each? Most of them were once per week or a couple of times per month historically, I was good with that. I have been unsubscribing...

    Are these parts salvageable?

As long as it didn't warp too badly from the fire heat that header is likely usable and can be cleaned up and painted. At worst clean it up, paint it and if it still looks a little too rough exhaust wrap it. The tank will need a lot more triage to know and it may be a lost case but try cleaning...

    Stocks

I would never buy Boeing now but much of that could be said about GE a few years ago (just with a much lower body count). Intel is likely better IMO. ***** Another approach I have been doing is keeping an eye on the S&P and NASDAQ additions and deletions. Trying to guess additions before the are...

    Stocks

I am self managed for RRSP and TFSA. The wife uses an investment guy. I do look over her investments and I have taken a few queues from her holdings (areas I never even thought of)... Not stocks but funds, ETFs, etc. they are using that have consistent good returns. I usually won't use the exact...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

That was all the film I had left. Even then I had to cut each one 1/4" short to get the full window width... I want to see how well it holds up through the seasons. It is not very expensive to redo at some point.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

There is still some work to do on the window, paint and other stuff (in the spring now) but I needed to get the cardboard off of it. This is my home office window... The "stained glass" along the top of the window is a film that sticks to the window without adhesive, this was left over from...

    Christmas Gift Ideas 2024 Addition

Some I have come up with so far... -Ceramic xmas tree, those old style ones that are 12 to 15 inches tall that light up. Many of us may remember them from our childhoods. The wife was reminiscing about the memories of her grandparent's one when she was a kid, I found a plug in one on Amazon...
