#$%@ GP Bikes just made my life harder

One may be real, at least two are knock-offs.

    Can't Access Website (iPhone)

Since it broke on ipad, phone and computers at almost the same time, I'd be surprised if it was a cache problem on all of them but it's an easy thing to try.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

For dead brands, there might be a business case for a company to buy the vast majority of the stock and then lease them out with repairs included (or use as a rental fleet although EV rentals are normally an awful idea). Build institutional knowledge on how to fix them without manufacturer...

    Can't Access Website (iPhone)

Try changing dns servers on your router (post #19). If that solves problem then we know where the issue is originating.

    Gps trackers... Nerds assemble!

That's why I said sla or fe02. Unfortunately, the biggest obstacle is the airlines. There are thousands of cases where people knew exactly where the luggage was and the airline actively blocked access/retrieval/delivery. I try very very hard not to check things I would be very upset to lose.

    Gps trackers... Nerds assemble!

Does an inreach work with external power connected? You can't check lithium power packs but an SLA or FeO2 battery should power it for weeks. I wouldnt buy an inreach for this purpose (although that depends on the value of the item you are tracking) but for someone like you that has one anyway...

    Gps trackers... Nerds assemble!

What about something like an inreach? Can you set it to check in periodically? Obviously still foiled in locations with no access to satellites. As for op's question, redundancy is your friend. Even if I used a GPS solution, air tags are cheap and pretty well supported. I own a tile and I use...

I have a complicated ownership case here

Omvic can pound sand. Using this tragedy to try to pretend they are useful and will protect you? How many classic cars are sold through omvic dealers? On the small chance you bought from an omvic dealer, they pretend you are fullt protected but pay you a trivial amount anyway. F those guys and...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Not even an old tent as a spray booth? That cuts down on wind and bugs. Be careful with fire though.

    Rabaconda tire changer

The insurance is normally what hurts these otherwise seemingly good ideas. Unless the co-owners also throw in 50-100K for a part share in the garage, the garage owner is holding a ton of liability without much compensation for that liability. EDIT: If the no-mar is mobile and members take it to...

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

Hamilton used to have king and main lights synchronized so driving at the speed limit got you all greens. Iirc, that was changed a few years ago to piss everybody off.

    Carney Scam, not political

Another problem is some public figures actually do promote scams (like all the Trump coins). You can't assume that craziness is fake by default (although that is a great position to start from if you don't want to lose money).

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

That's true for the mechanical bits on either drivetrain and potentially not true for the dozen computers on either drivetrain. It depends how successful the manufacturer was with forcing dealer authentication for computer swaps.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

What modern ice car doesn't have the same issues? If one of the many computers fails, they are often unavailable from oem (backorder for months or more) and require programming to work with each specific car. Any manufacturer can choose whether to facilitate or be actively hostile towards right...

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

Parkside is mounted up a pole now. I think all five of the times it was cut down it was pole mounted. Before that, it found itself sleeping more than a klr. Like a klr, just stand it up and keep going but lots of time laying down and losing revenue.

    Lock for helmet?

With the givi top case on the Aprilia, at 200+ it feels like you are on an expanded metal bridge. Not scary, just disconcerting.

    Lock for helmet?

They are $5 a pair on aliexpress. Hard to justify making them unless you want to go for premium domestic made. EDIT: They also have these which may work for helmets that don't accommodate normal locks well. Obviously low security but more than zero.

    COVID and the housing market

Maybe. Also issues with capital. My guess is MM bypassed the banks and self-financed much of this project. Banks don't like to finance crack houses. Once it's complete, they are happy to loan money for a conventional property. Now, if labourer proved to be good and reliable, MM could help...

    Recommendations for welding/fabrication shop

IIRC @Mad Mike has done similar before. Cardboard aided design is your friend. Use some corrugated cardboard to construct the shapes you need in 3D. Once they are good, reproducing in metal is not too hard. That path is much simpler and faster than trying to work with metal from the start. You...

    Lock for helmet?

Full face? Chin bar makes those easy. If that doesn't work, build on ash's idea and make a small wire to put through a vent hole. Loop on one end and large thing like a washer on the other.
