Damn. That's not even close to $1000... CAD.
With only a few minutes left in the auction, the serious buyers came out of the woodwork and put in the "lets get real muddafekkas" bids hard and fast!
Called it:
Was it any surprise a guy named "LamboDan" won the auction...? 🤔
TIL:
Was...
Oops, my bad. You're right.
These are the graphics I'm more familiar with (which is actually a 996):
Not a big fan of the decals on that replica in the auction.
A paraphrasing of the well known saying: "The thrill of the chase is often more exciting than the catch itself".
Certainly after a motorcycle purchase, I always feel a slight tinge of melancholy knowing that the lightening of the wallet means the closing of doors and possibilities to other...
I dunno. You can certainly tell a lot about someone's character by watching what they do instead of listening to the words coming out of their mouths.
I watch Spite's Corner a little bit and know him primarily from when YM fired him on camera to squeeze viral content out of it.
That's who YM...
Do you remember Ronnie from back in the day? He used to have a "Stickah Gixxah" - the entire fairing was covered in stickers.
Thing musta been layin' down 1800 hp at the rear wheel...
Cool.
Yammienoob seems to have turned over a new leaf as well. Went from UltraSquid to UltraSafetyAdvocate seemingly overnight. I don't watch his channel, but see his thumbnails on my recommended list all the time, and they're all like: "Why new riders should buy the best gear they can...
Much as I really want it, it probably isn't even in the top ten list of bikes I want but can't afford.
If I did win that auction, first thing I'd do is take a hair dryer to all those horrible stickers plastered all over that bike. Why do people deface works of art like that?!?
Circling back...
Is this far and away outside my budget? Yes.
Am I still refreshing the auction every 5 minutes? Also yes.
These are the bids. Loving the sense of humour between these guys! 😂
Wonder if a mystery bidder will come out of the shadows last minute with a bully bid and take the...
Wow, 35 years is really good.
I think I average around 7-8 years per bike.
Longest one I've had is my R1200GS. Bought new in 2005, sold in 2017 with 250,000 kms on the clock.
Oh don't get me wrong... I do look. All the time!
But I'm not wired to be a value shopper. Unfortunately, I have champagne tastes... on a beer budget....
Currently $21,000 USD with 3 hours left before the gavel drops.
Wish I was a baller that trades in bikes as frequently as changing underwear, but I think the current lineup in the garage is set for the foreseeable future.
Yep, so many variables to put a single number to it.
What kind of bike? Mileage? Condition?
Would I pay $1000 for a 1995 916 that needed a little TLC to get back to tip top shape? Yep.
Would I pay $1000 for a 1995 Ninja 250R in mint condition? Nope.
Garage space is tight. I wouldn't buy...
eBay sellers can place restrictions on selling area.
Some sellers see messages from outside of their selling area and just ignore it. They just don't want to bother explaining why they don't want to sell internationally or overseas, especially having to do so in another language. Sometimes the...
My buddy likes to show off his frequent flyer status.
When we fly together, he makes a big show about heading off to the lounge while us plebes wait in Gen Pop. He boards early and waves goodbye to us.
We were checking in our bags and because of his frequent flyer status he gets a priority...
It's pretty invasive.
My buddy and I went to a Honda dealership one day to look at CRF450Ls.
He has location services turned on, so no surprise when he started getting Honda ads after the visit. But why were the ads about CRF450Ls, of all Honda models to show him?!?!
Facebook is creepy.
The championship race is tight this year and Toprak's dominance is not looking assured at all.
Those two mechanicals are going to be quite costly at the end of the season when all the points are tallied.
