Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

Sorry guys, you are correct. You can get an ownership for bike that is unplated. As I stated, I'm sure the racers will correct me. Not really my area, so I will just slink away.

    What are blue plates?

I did a little research. At one time in Ontario, motorcycle dealer plates were blue with white numbers. They have been up-dated to white with red numbers, but if you still have the blue plates, they can be renewed. Car dealer plates were orange with black numbers, but these have been replaced...

Is it possible to get ownership for a bike?

So true. Try a different Service Ontario office. When my sister-in-law passed away, I had to get a temporary licence from the MTO so I could sell her car. When I tried to return the plate after the sale, I had to instruct the woman behind the counter on how to do the paperwork.

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

If you take a bike to and from the track on a trailer, it doesn't need a plate. It's only being run on private property. A lot of track bikes can't be licenced in any event as the Ontario government won't allow them on the street. They are generally overpowered for the weight of the bike and...

    Who's still riding? (Fall 2016 / Winter 2017 edition)

From 4 PM to 4:30 PM today (Dec. 15) I couldn't see 100 feet because it was snowing so hard. Bicyclists were falling off their bikes because there was zero traction. Most just gave up and walked them on the sidewalks. I think this topic is finished until March.

Is it possible to get ownership for a bike?

Pfrog It sounds as though it's going to be a pain to make the moped legal so why bother. If you have a friend with cottage on a private road, give it to them. No plate required for a private road.

    Conflicting laws

One of the things that always upsets me about traffic tickets is that the officer generally has a choice of which offence to apply. If you make an illegal left turn in a signed intersection, you are guilty of either disobey official sign under the HTA. OR a violation of the city bylaw which...

Black Friday and cyber Monday motorcycle related deals. - what you getting?

I bought a torque wrench at a Harbor Freight in Michigan about 5 years ago for $30. It was the same one Canadian Tire was selling for $60. You have to know how to convert Newtonmeters to footpounds however.

    Proper winter tires

My memory is a little hazy on this, but I believe chains on tires are legal. There has to have been a certain amount of snow and only within a certain time frame of it stopping. When I lived in Ottawa in the 1980s, there was a huge snowstorm. All the police, fire and ambulances had chains until...

An excellent reason why you should include a shot of the odometer if you are selling online.

Where to get cheap synthetic oil in the GTA?

At one time Canadian Tire had their own house brand of motorcycle oil. I don't know if this is still the case. However, I was informed that this was Castrol oil. At the time it was slightly cheaper than buying the brand name. Note: I was told this over a decade ago, so I don't know if its still...

    Road Tolls coming to Toronto

I have a few problems with tolls. First off, they will apply (to start) with the DVP and Gardiner. Won't this just result with a lot more traffic on the nearby streets? We're Canadians so we tend to be a bit tight with our money. Secondly, tax dollars went to build these roads in the first...

    Fraud warning

All sentences that begin "everybody knows" or "it's a well known fact" should take into account that just because you know it doesn't mean everyone else on the planet does.

Not coming to motorcycles anytime soon

One of the great questions of our time I ask myself when riding or driving on the mean streets of Toronto. If we're 10 feet from the corner and you want to turn right, what are you doing in the left lane?

    Leather Glove Repair??

Dry cleaning leather tends to be very expensive because of the care the cleaner must use to make sure the leather doesn't dry out. I use saddle soap on my jacket. Make sure the soap is very diluted with water as it can dry out the leather if the solution is too strong.
