BrakeFree: The Smart Brake Light for Motorcyclists

I added a rear brake light that blinks and flashes when using the brakes. It is very noticeable, probably to the point of being annoying, but I think it is effective.

Helmets... how long should we keep a helmet?

The recommendation is 5 years of us. If it was in original packaging and not exposed to the elements, then it will be good for 5 years.

    WTF Moment

Was out yesterday afternoon and saw someone riding their motorcycle, North York area. Is it just me, but it sure seemed too cold yesterday to be out riding. I kinda felt more sorry for the motorcycle than the rider, the motorcycle had no choice in the matter.

    Bluetooth for Helmet

Looking to buy a bluetooth device for my helmet, mainly to receive/make hands free calls from my iPhone while riding. Looking at the Evolution V1 from Daytona Motorsports for $119. Any comments/advice would be appreciated.

    Riding local = safer

I am a relatvely new rider and also an older rider (50,s). This year I rode more extensively at least for me, up to Haliburton and Collingwood were my big rides. I find riding the roads in the GTA, while I agree are dangerous, it does force me to be more alert and attentive. I am looking...

    QEW near Niagara Falls

Saw two motorcylces down while driving home from Niagara Falls along the QEW earlier this evening. One of the bikes looked pretty broken up. Ambulance was there and looked like they were working on someone. Don't know much more, but it did not look good. If anyone can provide further...

    Sore Butt

Thanks for all the advice, I will consider them all. Not too fond of the beaded seat idea however, due to it being slippery. Impress a date? Ha ha ha, I am far and away beyond that point in my life.

    Last Ride

Well thats it, my last ride for the season. Today I rode my bike to the maintenance building where I work to park it for the winter. At some point in the near future I will change the oil and take the battery out, but otherwise thats it for me. This has been my first year and I thoroughly...

    RTI Winterization Course

I received an e-mail from RTI about a 3 hour course they offer on preparing your motorcycle for winter. Can anyone comment on whether this course is worth attending. I am considering it but but would like to hear from others if this would be worthwhile. Thanks.

I think it may be time

I think it may be time to put the bike in winter storage. I was hoping for the indian summer to arrive and extend my season, but the medium term forecast is not looking too good. As an inexperienced rider (riding since end of July), I do not really want to battle the elements as I think this...

    Old Gas

I have an 2004 GS500 and it seems to run rough in first. The guy I boguth it from was a car guy and took care of it. He told me to use the high octane gas, is this not the case. Also excuse my ignorance but what is seafoam, what does it do? Thanks

older guy looking to get M2

Took delivery of my new (used) motorcylce. I guess that completes the circle. I feel I need alot of practice on side roads before I will be confident enough to venture onto the busier city roads. I need it to become second nature before I will feel comfortable to venture further. Thanks to...

older guy looking to get M2

Passed the course this weekend, now on to the next step and get a bike and some practice going. It was quite the experience and much more difficult than I had ever envisioned, I was not all that confident I would pass. The RTI instructors were very supportive and provided personalized tips...

Thanks for the replies. I am encouraged by your favourable course/riding experience. What Timmies location would that be and what time, I just might do that.

older guy looking to get M2

Signed up for the RTI course for July 21/22 at the North York location. Now I need to get the equipment. I went to the Kahuna store in the Steeles/400 area already, I can take a route home from work that passes right by it so it is convenient. Tried some helmets on at a number of price...

Thanks to all for your replies. I will certainly follow through on the advice and links that were provided. Yes bboySushi the Shark Evoline, is along the lines of the ones I would consider. That particular model is perhaps a bit more elaborate than what I would buy, but that is the idea...

I am in North York, Bathurst Steeles area. I kind of like bikes where you sit more upright than the sport type bikes where you are more forward over the gas tank. I plan to ride for recreation on the city streets. Thats about it.
