When riding in general I always "tap" my front brake to flash it once or twice, then start using them, so it gets a flash going so anyone behind it can see it, then hold it to keep it solid

As far as I'm aware, the only place to lane spit legally (Canada and US) is California (correct me if I'm wrong). Everywhere else you can get majorly nailed.

I would just like to say that to ride, or drive for that matter, is a PRIVILEGE. I'm almost 21, and yes it sucks, insurance rates are seriously high, but like everyone already said the fact that you don't have any driving record so all the insurance companies are doing is covering their own ***...

Its true, to serve and collect. Just north of lawrence on keele its the same thing, no right turns off of north park drive during the rush hours and i see a cop sitting in the entrance to the park (pops the curb and sits on the walkway...) just waiting to get people which then completely screws...

I just have a pair of headphones with the pause/play button on the headphones and a mic (siri,iphone 4s, actually works while riding) and one press = play/pause, double press = skip song, triple = previous song. Seems to work great for me and just have my iphone in a pocket inside my riding jacket
