Racer shoves his way through a pass (video)

I guess you don't follow racing much. Not a publicity stunt. Pretty cool though, no way he was going to get away with that!

    California Superbike School

I've taken both Level1 and Level2 at Willow Springs. I highly recommend it. By far, the best roadracing course I've taken. (Hi Misti! You were coaching CSS when I took my Level1 4 years ago...)

    Repairing GPS Lap Timer??

I've got a 2 year old Starlane GPS-R lap timer, that has quit working - it won't power on, from either the bike's power, or from internal batteries. I'd *hate* to spend another $500 to replace it. I know it's a long shot, but anyone ever take apart/repair one of these - I gotta ask before I...

    Trails near cottages

There's a huge area in Muskoka full of forest access roads, logging roads, snowmobile trails, and tight single track. Roughly bounded by; Hwy118 to the south, Hwy117 to the north, Hwy35 to the east, and Hwy11 to the west. Best access points are on 118 and 117.

    Low siding save?

False. Whacking open the throttle will simply apply more power to the rear tire (duh). Depending on which tire is sliding, and to what degree, the possible outcomes are numerous (probably all really bad...)

Is riding really going to kill me?

Three most important things you can do to help yourself; 1) always wear a helmet 2) never drink and ride 3) get a class M license Take a look at any of the large scale motorcycle accident reports (eg. Hurt); most deaths/injuries occur as a result of ignoring a combo of those rules.

    Daytona 200

I was part of his crew in Daytona, and I was amazed with Ben's performance. This is a kid to watch. He turned his fastest lap times near the end of his 57 laps - he got off his bike at the end of his race cool as a cucumber, not even a bead of sweat on his forehead. When I asked him how he felt...

Double paned visors... do they exist?

Many of the double visors I've seen are NOT D.O.T. approved, if that matters to you.

Has any one used the services of "fast by Gast"

I had undercut transmission gears on one of my race bikes - shifting was nice and smooth, much better than stock.

    Any SV650 experts?

I agree with Rob on this. Ohlins rear shock, Racetech fork springs + emulators. Need need for any other parts. Then find someone competent to set them up for you. I highly recommend John Sharrard - he's at all Pro6 track days. I had this set up, and could run within 2 seconds of the Calabogie...

What should I be aware of for my first track day..

You're not the only one.... I've been racing for almost 20 years, and I still get butterflies before a race. It's normal (and probably healthy!) to be a little nervous before track riding, but the key (like a good friend of mine said), is to get the butterflies to fly in formation!
