Ministry should include reading sidewall and filling tire pressure correctly in the G test! Most of the "adults" I know don't even know how to use a compressor let alone know what valve stems are. This is tragic and even moreso if it was avoidable.
PLau, glad you were able to react effectively. Traffic frequently moves 90+ on that stretch and you managed to stop the bike, kudos.
I want to point out a few things that others have touched on. Firstly if the lane of traffic I am driving in is moving faster than any other lanes I ALWAYS...
Just thought I would share an update. I've got the side bags on the bike!
It should be 14 degrees on Thursday I am tempted to fill her up and try to empty the tank, to get an idea of the distance/tank and fuel consumption.
Thank you everyone for your input! I will definitely be upgrading my...
I've got my old bike for sale right now online.
The potential buyers that initiate contact by asking me if I will accept X lowered price, you test my patience and I am so on to you! :blob5:
If you're a serious buyer come and see the bike and bring cash with you in the event you'd like to buy...
I would be using the boot strictly for street but will likely throw a pair of running shoes in a bag if I plan to walk anywhere.
When my chain snapped in 2011 it got caught in my wheel and I lowsided. I fractured a bone in my foot and needless to say my life was severely impacted. Was wearing...

I swear I have watched nearly 2 hours of footage from riders going down - both high and low side on Mulholland Hwy.
I watch them over and over and over again and try to get a clue as to why these guys go down.
In some cases it is quite obvious but in other cases I just can't seem to figure it...
Wow a lot of new factors to consider. Glad I posted!
I don't plan to be going more than 110-120 for the most part and I am really counting on regular hiway driving and low rpm high gear consumption rates.
Headwind is not something I accounted and am glad you brought that up! Do you really...
Thanks for the reply and heads up!
You are absolutely right! Only in a perfect world would it be only 12 full fill ups. It could more likely be closer to 24 half fill ups or whatever the variation will be.
In any case, I will be bringing spare fuel canister to add to my reserve capacity, which...
Since this will be my first long trip I have come up with a common sense formula to estimate my fuel requirements and costs.
For those of you who have experience touring please don't hesitate to chime in!
My proposed forumula

GWS Rider!
I am just as eager as everybody else to get out there but as long as there is still snow on the ground I won't risk it. :violent1:
I will be re-evaluating the riding itch in 3-4weeks when night time temperature hopefully isn't dipping into the negatives.
Ride Safe Everyone...
Sounds great! I'm planning to ride to BC this summer so the 500 is a great way to test the bike setup and give me a chance to tweak anything before the big ride..
I got a wicked good deal on it and am so happy I made the purchasing decision. VOS thus far has been nothing but a pleasure to deal with. Very thorough and accommodating. They are installing Akrapovic exhaust, lowering link and Givi side and rear rack. More pictures to come!
oh and holler at me...
