That actually sounds like a very resonable explanation.. thanks! There is actually 0 visible tire wear from this... my guess is tire was already hot and it melted it back quickly. I cleaned up the cooled plastic shreds hanging off. Since these pics, I have adjusted the plate a bit further back...

I sat on and had a friend check, virtually no movement. Although i did have my gf on for a ride too...The hugger is attached to the swingarm, shouldn't it move with the tire over bumps? Is the hugger mandatory or can i remove it?
