WHAT DO YOU RIDE and WHY?

I'm currently riding a 2011 BMW F800R, so far best bike I have ever owned. It doesn't do any one thing great... but it does everything very well and that's what I want in an everyday bike. It's super comfortable, handles amazing, gets really good mileage and it's weird looking.

    B'mer Obsessed - S1000R

I'm wondering if the DDC package is worth it? I'm afraid of electronics failing at the worst time possible lol. While I think it's cool to have an electronically adjustable suspension I just wonder if it's better to just get a regular suspension and have it tuned correctly. I took my F800R in...

    B'mer Obsessed - S1000R

Congrats on your new purchase! I'm Jealous! I'm most likely upgrading to this bike as well and will probably end up picking one up at the end of the season:p plus I need to test ride it before I actually pull the trigger. I'm digging the red... that blue I'm also not a huge fan of. They should...

    Bmw f800r

I have the sport panniers for the F800R and a BMW top bag that came with my bike. They are awesome. The panniers are pretty light and they can be held like l suitcases which is nice. The one key system is definitely a win.

    Bmw f800r

I agree with you BMWs command a price premium... But you don't have to buy a brand new one. The fact that I didn't have to go out and spend 500 bucks on a new seat meant that I could put that right into suspension work which made the bike even better. It's not about any one thing that made my...

    Bmw f800r

I live in the GTA I own an 2011 F800R and for me it's an amazing bike. One of the best bikes I've owned. Mine had a blinker switch issue that was taken care of through warranty. I go through TD for insurance I'm paying something like 600 /yr. The F800R isn't amazing at any one thing, but...

    Heated gloves vs handle bars

The performance long term should be very good. The product uses carbon fiber wire as the portion producing the IR light. There isn't much wiring in the glove which is a plus in my books. wires suffer from metal fatigue over long periods of time, movement and exposure to the elements.. Just...

    Heated gloves vs handle bars

I tried the heated gloves by Velocity. Review is here: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?178379-Heated-VR-PRO-Gloves These gloves work really well and have lots of protection. They look like a motorcycle glove and have excellent dexterity even though they are insulated and...

    Heated VR-PRO Gloves

As these were a working display model I didn't think it would be wise to dunk test these without Jimmy's approval haha. But from what I know about the manufacturing process the leather is water proof and the stitching is where the the water can get in so they put another one piece waterproof...

    Heated VR-PRO Gloves

Hi Everyone, I was lucky enough to get a chance to test out this new product over the last couple of weeks. Jimmy was kind enough to let me borrow the display models to move some of my bikes around in cold so I could get all my bikes into storage. For comparison sake, I checked out heated...

Bought a used BMW, recommendations for good independent shops in the GTA

+1 for Budd's I've been there once and they've been great for the big services. I use Z1cycletech (they're like 5 mins from my work and they have also been great to deal with) for oil changes and tire swaps when I cant' make it out to Budd's. Budd's is also pretty busy so you have to book in...

FYI: CDN Tire will have Shell Rotella T6 on sale

Thanks for the heads up on this, I haven't seen a jug of 0W40 T6 before :P ... However looking at that data sheet it's not rated for wet clutch (JASO-MA) so I probably won't be using that in my bike. In my car would be nice for winter but a 5W40 will do just fine in the amount of cold we get...

Do "setup" days exist? Looking to get my suspension (SAG) set up for my weight

Re: Do "setup" days exist? Looking to get my suspension (SAG) set up for my weight I had my entire suspension reworked for my weight and height (changed out everything) it was definitely more than a 15 min job and way more than 80 bucks. But it was the best money I've spent on my bike so far...

Test/Practice/Describe Front Brake ABS activiation (GSF650SA)

My F800R has ABS and I can feel it in the pedal and the lever when it activates. For me it just feels like a gentle pulsing in the leaver. I got a chance to test it out at one of the track / street riding schools I took this season. It's not terribly intrusive when you just mash on the brakes...
