I think skid pad training included in drivers training/as a req for getting a drivers license would be a better idea. Snow tires can give you more traction yes be it doesn't keep you out of skids all together.
Not sure if I will track my own bike, might look into taking a couple day/weekend course things as I don't have any track experience but definitely want some.
Well thanks everyone for your input! I sat on a couple CBRs and R6's. I did find the R6 a little more agressive than the CBR not unbearable though, but I wasn't riding. I ended up going with a CBR for those interested, should be picking up early next week.

I won't likely be doing too many long trips. For the most part I will be commuting and then taking tours on my days off.
@TFAB I saw your buddy's R6 online just after it was post but I think the miles are a bit higher than what I am looking for (bike looks awesome though).
Hopefully checking out at least 1 cbr and R6 this week. The R6 looks are what keep me coming back to it, hopefully seeing/sitting on them in person will finalize this decision.
Yes I have kind of but the ins rates with the extra 75CCs will be too much. My current plan is CBR/R6 and then once rates drop an 848 EVO as its the most beautiful bike out there right now in my mind (675R is close though)
While I can't speak for off road Honda's, I do own a KTM 250SXF and its been awesome. All parts I have bought have been inexpensive (haven't had to buy anything major).
