    Teikei 22 jetting

Just wanted to give a quick update. I had Sunday and Monday off so I did the Lake Ontario trip. Trenton to Cornwall, Syracuse, Finger Lakes, Fort Erie. Stayed over in Niagara Falls Sunday night. Bike ran like a dream. I popped the plugs out last night and they were a lovely light Tan colour...

Justin Trudeau on Migrants entering Quebec

My CO keeps saying that Justin is a 40 watt bulb masquerading as a crystal chandelier :) Anyway, I thought it was funny....

    Teikei 22 jetting

Thanks All... Was able to get the jets at winners circle. Started off with the 105's and ended up with 102's. The needle ended up second clip from the bottom. We have tiny drills in work so the pilot was drilled to .37mm. Pulls smoothly from just having the throttle cracked open to WOT...

What would a Wildrose win in Alberta mean for Canada?

This is interesting. I am also a McDonnell. I've been spending some time tracing my Family roots. I've managed to go right back to Ayr in Scotland in the 1600's to a guy called Donald McDonnell from the Clan MacDonnell of Glengarry. in 1649 he was accused by the Crown of treason and forced to...

Front end chatter/handlebar oscillation in corner

Thanks to all the replies. Tried softening up the rear spring/damping and it didn't make a lot of difference. Pulled out the emulators made sure they had the 64lbs springs, and wound them to 2.0 turns. 100% better. This was the problem. You sir, are a genius ;)

Front end chatter/handlebar oscillation in corner

Interesting you should mention this. I am running Racetech .8kg springs with emulators and 15w race-tech oil which is what they recommend. I do have about 3.5 turns on the emulator as their instructions are a little ambiguous. Let me fish them out and set them at 2.0

Front end chatter/handlebar oscillation in corner

Calipers were rebuilt and the pads are brand new. The disks are also new (EBC) as the originals were warped and scored. the are directional and were fitted left and right. Its worse when not braking, i.e. coasting into a corner behind a car. but is consistent as various speeds. Applying the...

Front end chatter/handlebar oscillation in corner

Forks are set flush with the top clamp which is the way the came from the factory. The OEM shocks on that bike are 13.5 inches (343mm) the works performance are 350mm but they have an adjuster that provides +/-5mm and its set right at the bottom so that would make them 345mm. I hope 2MM...

Front end chatter/handlebar oscillation in corner

Thanks for all the comments - No play in the back-end at all. Both the bearings and the pivot shaft are brand new. The rear wheel bearings and sprocket carrier bearings also brand new

Front end chatter/handlebar oscillation in corner

I've just restored a 81 GPZ550 (the twin shock model) and am really enjoying riding it. I had one as my first ever bike and its bringing back so many good memories. Having said that I have one issue. If I'm following a car or another vehicle into a corner and can't get on the gas immediately I...

    Piston Ring Compressor

We have a those at work for larger engines but they don't come apart so they are only good for putting the piston in from the top of the cylinder. Its not a problem with the aero engine as the crank can be bolted up once the piston is installed. Kind of like a car. Can you separate the smaller...

    Piston Ring Compressor

On the home stretch with my GPZ550 restore. Had the cylinders honed with new rings and need to get it assembled The smallest ring compressor we have at work is 4 inches. I need about 2.4/60mm inches. Is there anywhere in the GTA I can buy these? Or does someone have a set they would be willing...

    Caliper dust boots

Really dumb question. I'm restoring an old GPZ 550 and am in the process of rebuilding the calipers. Is there a simple trick to getting the dust boot installed? I can't get it into the groove in the caliper body. I did my F800 calipers in the winter an it was simple. Any pointers would be...

    Removing Powder Coat

I guess I could if I scuffed it up and applied a good tie coat. It's very, very thick though compared to what Yamaha put on, so I'd prefer to take it off if I could.

    Removing Powder Coat

Thanks to All. Seems like sandblasting is the way to go. Miggs, any idea who does chemical stripping? Agree that I shouldn't go over the existing coat. I just want to shoot a thin coat of some 2K gloss black we have at work. I think it will be very close to the original finish.
