    California and US West Coast

Micmerg, Delboy. Thanks for the offers. That's what I like about this board. There are always a few people willing to go out of their way to help. There will be 2 bikes and I don't mind paying. The BMW dealer sounds interesting as it seems to be most convenient to the airport. I just googled...

Delboy. I have been in touch with TFX and they will need and address to ship to. Can you recommend some sort of a holding facility in San Francisco? Shipping my own is much cheaper than renting

Anyway to get someone from Canada Post fired?

Why would someone born in Canada not take a job with Canada Post? A mail-man makes around $65k, a supervisor up to $97k and a operations manager up to $121k. That's not bad scratch, particularly if your living in a rural area. You are basically your own boss and no stress.

Thanks Kiley. Three days is reasonable. I've pretty much settled on taking my own bike. Its just determining if I ride or ship. In late March the weather may not be great in the Northern States.

Thanks for this. My company has a Biz Dev guy that lives in Sacramento. He sent me the GPX files for a lot of these routes. I'll try to merge yours with his. He also recommended HWY 35 and 9 and HWY 1 North of the Golden Gate Bridge and HWY 33 as must rides. It's great when they are recommended...

Thanks to all. This is exactly the sort of information I was looking for. Kiley, how long did it take you to ride down? Shipping is also a great suggestion. I can afford to be without the bike for a couple of weeks as the season will not have started in Toronto.

We just got our bonus amounts at work and the company had a very good year, so what better way to celebrate than to head down to California at the end or March or in early April for 4 weeks, rent bikes and blow it all. As the song goes, "I'm here for a good time, not a long time" :) Has anyone...

    Best Post Ever?

Brilliant :) That reminds me. I just did an oil change, Hmmmm..... I wonder how long before the Star deletes that I did think those charts in the article were interesting though. Canada isn't even a rounding error compared to China, the US, India, Russia, Japan and Germany. So why is this...

Const. James Forcillo shot Sammy Yatim - the trial

My heart goes out to the Yatim family. That poor kid needed help and didn't get it, instead he got shot down like a dog in the street. His state of mind was clearly questionable and he had consumed pills which didn't help (anyone walking about with their dick in one hand and a knife in the...

Ontario debt now $298 billion - $21,000 per person

The only thing I remember from high school English Literature is a quote from Charles Dickens: "Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds, nineteen shillings and six pence, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds and six pence...

Ontario debt now $298 billion - $21,000 per person

But majority are coming to Toronto and a smaller number to other Ontario cities. What's wrong with Quebec City? Or Montreal? Or Edmonton? Or Winterpeg? Or Vancouver? Why are we picking up the tab? John Tory has already free dental care lined up for them all :)

Ontario debt now $298 billion - $21,000 per person

I'm quite surprised by this. I thought it was around $8Bn - not that $8bn is good. Maybe I'm thinking of a different number. I was browsing through their web site the other day for something else and found this diagram explaining how the provincial budget works... It's a clear as mud

Two Tier Healthcare coming to Ontario???

That's a good point. I don't. I had it replaced about 3 months ago but maybe that screwed it up and I don't have or have limited coverage

Two Tier Healthcare coming to Ontario???

I brought the issue up with my MPP. I'll see where it goes. The back story is that in injured my wrist about 2 years ago. It's not as a result of a car accident so no claim. It was an ackward fall in a hockey game I was going to an orthopedic guy at North York General called Peskun who seems...

Two Tier Healthcare coming to Ontario???

I injured my wrist and need an MRI. Apparently there are now new rules for OHIP that if you make more than a certain amount then you have to pay for this. Its no longer free. Its something that both tiers of liberal government have agreed upon - at least that's what the Ministry of Health told...
