Does anyone know USA medical costs?

That would be the difference between group and individual coverage. Group plans are great; when we were covered by my partner we had excellent coverage for about $350 a month total. As I am the only employee of our church, we don't have a group plan. U.S. insurance is so weird that our folks...

Does anyone know USA medical costs?

If my deductible was lowered to ~$2,500 and the co-pay portion was dropped to 25 or 30%, the premium per month went from $297 to between $800 and $1200. It was recommended to me not to pay the extra because if I had a major expense and was stuck with a bill in the tens of thousands, just do...

Does anyone know USA medical costs?

You got it exactly right. If the bill was $80K, I would pay the first $5K as deductible, then I would be responsible for 40% of the remaining $75K, or $30K. So of the $80K bill I would be paying $35K and the insurance company would pay $40K. Great system huh!

    Yay first ticket. Quick question.

I got pulled over once for not coming to a complete stop in the cop's eyes. When I stopped, I only put 1 foot down, not both. Because my right foot remained on the brake, clearly I wasn't stopped properly and that warranted being pulled over. Thankfully he let me go when he realised I was on...

Does anyone know USA medical costs?

Some comparisons. First my doctor in Toronto had 1 assistant for 4 doctors. My doctor in California had 3.5 assistants for just himself. Incredibly inefficient. Second in Canada coverage is part of universal healthcare. In California not the case (clearly). I am a healthy male, no...

    Suggestions for inexpensive top box

Check out Bestem (bestemusa.com). You can get one that holds 2 helmets for $79.95 U.S. I had one on a previous bike and it held up great. In fact I just ordered one for my new bike. Bonus is it has a built-in brake light; always handy to have extra lights for the others to see you.

    Some advice on buying.

Not quite. Cash / negotiable transfers over $10K will only get you in trouble if you don't report them. If you file a report with DHS, you are golden.

SouthWest Part II - where to go?

Actually April is NOT the time to travel in the U.S., it is tornado season. Better to wait until May if you can - less storms. As for your trip. Personally I would go to South Dakota and area. I have been through there, as well as Colorado, New Mexico etc. and the SD is vastly underrated...

    What bike should I buy?

Well I bought a bike today. Should be able to meet the guy at the DMV on Monday and get it transferred over to me. I ended up with the 2003 Triumph Tiger 955i. It has only 12,000 miles on it. He bought it, did the 12K check then got tendonitis and parked the bike. Took it for a spin today...

    What bike should I buy?

Well I have narrowed it down to 2 bikes (from 6). Bike #1 - 2001 BMW F650GS - 18,000 miles, side and top bag, corbin seat, new chain/tires, 1 owner - $3,400 Bike #2 - 2003 Triumph Tiger 955i - 13,000 miles, side bags, new tires, 1 owner - $3,600 While these are well under my budget, they are...

    What bike should I buy?

Never thought of the Street Triple R, thanks for the heads up. As for the V-Strom, I had a 650. When riding it whether on city streets, highways or off the beaten track it was very competent, did what I needed it to do but I felt it lacked passion. I can't think of anything it lacked, other...

    What bike should I buy?

I sold my current motorcycle a couple of months ago, V-Strom, as it was boring beyond belief. While I did do some great rides on it, enthusiasm waned with each passing km. So I am looking for a new bike. Most of my riding will be highways / city streets but I do like to hit some unique roads...

    Laptops?

check out slickdeals.net and bens bargains. Great deals can be found on notebooks. In December I picked up a Samsung 11.6" notebook with an Intel i-3 processor for $249 (thanks Slickdeals). Using it right now. I also have a 14" Lenovo I got last June for $450. If you can get to the U.S...

    Got Touring Plans for 2012?

This is a year of some good driving for me. I have resigned my position in California, after a brief stop in Toronto we are heading to Poland and Turkey for close to a month. Couldn't find bikes in Turkey so we have rented a car to tour for a week. Should be good none the less. When we get...

Visiting the United States while on bail?

Technically you broke the law in the U.S. If you are a U.S. citizen you are required by law to enter the U.S. only on the U.S. passport. While they cannot deny you entry as a citizen, they could have made your crossing very difficult and delayed with boatloads of questions.

WORST CHRISTMAS PRESENT - What was it?

Irony alert - I can't be human in how I act as a minister but I am a human that lives out my call to serve. And on this note, I am done. Enjoy Christmas, Hannukah, Festivus, Kwanzaa, Saturnilus or whatever you celebrate.

Yeah I know that realistically his birth wasn't on the 25th.

WORST CHRISTMAS PRESENT - What was it?

The church aspect I enjoy, the outside church stuff I don't quite care for; the focus in society today is on buying stuff for each other, it is not on the story of Christ's birth. Forgive me if I am human like everyone else and at times would appreciate receiving a gift. FYI I do buy every...

What are you getting your significant other for xmas?

I have been there probably a dozen times, he has never been - hence Europe. (My preference was Bali - next trip). The bulk of our time will be spent touring Turkey. We are renting a car and driving around as well as spending a week in Instanbul.

WORST CHRISTMAS PRESENT - What was it?

The worst Christmas gift is tied for me. 1) As a child watching my father get drunk of Christmas Day and beat up my brother (tossing him across the room and almost smashing the tree). 2) As an adult the many years of getting absolutely nothing. My parents were ones to play favourites, my...
