3 days and still no safety

I am the opposite. I liked him until I saw him work and experience his handiwork. If he was the only choice to get a bike safetied, I would give up riding. Don't trust him as far as I can spit.

    Stories Of Bikers Helping Out!

First the helmet on the ground rule, never heard of it. Not sure I would put my helmet on the ground, too much debris - it goes on the seat or in the topbox. Last year I was riding through Mojave and stopped to take some pictures on a very quiet side road. Not 5 minutes after I stop a Hells...

    Crystal skull vodka

When I was in SoCal, had friends who were Mexican. They all drank Jose Cuervo Silver - said it is authentic Mexican Tequila. Patron was pretty much scoffed at and laughed at by them. Same with Corona, only tourists drink that, to them it was swill.

    Used Ducati Diavel

I looked it up, first he has it listed as a 2001, it should be a 2011. Second the Diavel is a 1098, not a 1198. Finally, the bike is seriously underpriced. Dealer trade-in on the bike is more than he is asking. Something fishy about the bike. Worth a look if local but could be stolen and...

HW 101 from Wasington State to California....anyone ridden it ?

It is kind of hard to answer all the questions. First off when you get into California, just south of Eureka you have an option of taking the lost coast vs. 101. DO IT. The road is totally amazing. About 125 km's down semi-paved roads with 18% grades and gravel switchbacks. Not to be...

3 days and still no safety

He should have his licence revoked. He doesn't properly check the bikes and breaks the law as posted here many times. I wouldn't trust a bike safetied by him as you have no clue if anything was even checked.

    Motorcycle repair

When I lived in the beaches I used 109 Cycle all the time, they were good and quite reasonably priced. One of the owners is the brother of a fellow minister.

HW 101 from Wasington State to California....anyone ridden it ?

I have ridden most of it, and all of PCH 1 in California. Did you have a specific question about the road/route?

    Used motorcycle price list?

If using KBB or Nada guides, be advised that the dealers use Nada guides to price a bike. Low is ballpark for a trade-in price, high is ballpark for retail. A couple of dealers have told me that KBB isn't that reliable when it comes to motorcycles, so they tend not to use it.

insurance for triumph daytona 675 or 955

My Tiger 955i (same engine as the Daytona I believe) is only $550 a year to insure, full coverage.

Imported Bike - US or CDN insurance initially?

Depending on the crossing it can be 72 hrs, not 48. And yes, you do have to send the documents to USCBP even if you have been in the U.S. for more than 5 years.

    US Motorcycle Laws by State

Not mean, just pointing out that Cali is NOT the term for California. The only place you see it referred to as California is with people who have never lived there but think they are using local vernacular...

    US Motorcycle Laws by State

Hrm, so your post about riding in Cali was a lie then? You did say you rode in Cali in post #4. Cali is a city in Columbia ergo you had to have ridden in Columbia.

Never riden in Columbia, what is it like?

    No Ticket Quotas? Ha!

A friend was a traffic enforcement officer with the O.P.P. (specialised unit) they had an unstated quote of 1,000 tickets per year. It was never written down but they were informally told if they write too few tickets, they will get transferred back to regular patrol.

New Chinese GPS units - CE 6.0, iGO, Bluetooth, FM

I use a Nokia E7(but this applies to all Nokia smartphones). They have built-in GPS that never needs a subscription to update; it is done free through their software. You load the maps you want (provinces, states and most countries in the world) - again all free. It has a built-in FM radio...

    After a bargain?

Don't need to read it to know that California is in bust mode. It was so obvious (and was one of the reasons I never appealed my immigration issue to stay... it was time to leave). The rest of the U.S. is heading down a similar road and it ain't gonna be pretty.

    After a bargain?

Then one should use the term California, or if the southern part - SoCal, the northern part NorCal. Cali is a city in Columbia. I know of no-one who lives there or has lived there who would ever refer to it as Cali - it is a slang used by wanna be's who haven't a clue. /end rant

    After a bargain?

. Cali? Columbia? Did you mean California? If so California is on the wane. Silicon Valley is doing okay, but most of the rest of the state is hurting quite bad. Unemployment levels are quite high, the jobs to be had are McJobs. The economy today is driven a lot by oil and gas (South...

    rotella oil

I had the opposite effect in my V-Strom when in California. Switched back to a Mobil 1 Synthetic and the bike shifted way smoother. Haven't used Rotella since. My thinking is you don't change oil that often and for something so critical, it is worth spending a few extra $$.
