    Tablet / e-reader suggestions

I have been given some educational funds to spend. From what our treasurer tells me I can get a tablet or e-reader instead of buying more books or taking a course (can't find one I like right now). While I have about $800 to spend, there are other things I want to purchase as well. The main...

Buying bike out of province - which tax do I pay?

I just purchased a bike in Quebec. The dealership charged me the GST & QST. When I registered it in Ontario, I had to pay the Ontario portion of the HST. Service Ontario gave me a receipt that I sent to Quebec, along with a document the Quebec dealership gave me, to Revenue Quebec for a...

    Blue streak Racing!

I order almost everything through him. A great bonus is he is only 20 minutes away (well 40 by the time I wander). If he doesn't have it, he gets it. One thing I have found is he can generally match or beat most prices out of the U.S. without asking. Hard to beat that for service.

Where to buy stuff in downtown Toronto with a Canadian flag on it?

I found a bunch of canadian flag stuff in a store on the west side of Yonge St., north of Wellesley. It was your typical tourist / discount crap store. Most things were a buck or two.

    3 bikes pulled over

If you were stunting on the DVP then you deserve to be charged. I disagree with the impounding of the bikes until you are proven guilty, but stunting / wheelies on a major highway, given how you confessed to the act, I hope your fine is so massive you think twice about driving that reckless...

    Internet Provder Switch.... recommendations?

I installed Start and it is fantastic. Great speeds, no throttling, very good price. Teksavvy isn't available where I live, but with the service I get from Start they would have to give cut my bill in half to get me to switch. If looking for DSL, stay away from MySignal - the price magically...

November riders...post your rides. Season's not over yet

I rode to London this a.m. temp was 8 or 9, by the time I left mid afternoon temp was down to 2 or 3. Add in very high winds and it was a bit chilly heading back home. Oh well, all part of the fun of breaking in a new bike.

rider killed outside London this morning.

A member of my church mentioned this to me yesterday afternoon; it was her friends nephew. The family is taking it quite hard, as is to be expected.

If it is true, they can talk about it all they want. It is only an issue when they lie.

Importing a Motor Vehicle To Canada (the be all end all)

You can't do it in a day as USCIS needs the paperwork faxed to them at least 72 hrs in advance. The office in Port Huron is not open 24/7 either, so you have to time it for when they are open.

Home internet provider - what's a good alternative to Robbers ?

I switched to Start 2 months ago and freakin fast/reliable service. My download speeds are usually in the 3 mb/s speed. Speedtest gives me a download speed ~ 30 mb/s and an upload speed of 1 mb/s.

    Racing on the DVP

As one who lived there, the term Cali is NOT used to refer to SoCal or California; it is SoCal, NorCal etc. Cali is only used by people unfamiliar with the place who try to sound hip or cool.

    Soundbar vs Home Theatre

When I was looking at this issue a couple of years ago, I decided that the sound bar just didn't cut it. What I did was watch the sales and slowly pick up pieces as they went on sale. Now I have Polk Monitor speakers in the front, a Polk Centre Speaker, a Polk Subwoofer, Wharfdale rear...

    Racing on the DVP

Cali is in a third world country, Columbia. Toronto is not - that alone is a huge difference.

Importing a bike from Seattle to BC, registering as an Ontario resident???

Um, not quite. For the vehicle to come into Canada duty free you need to have been a U.S. resident for 5+ years and the vehicle must be at least 6 months old, unless it was purchased as a replacement for a vehicle that was damaged beyond repair. You do NOT show anyone your U.S. tax returns...

Importing a bike from Seattle to BC, registering as an Ontario resident???

Why would you even consider getting a Cali licence when you are going to register the bike in California? Columbia is quite far from California.

Importing a bike from Seattle to BC, registering as an Ontario resident???

Even as a non-resident of California, you can register the bike there. Just make sure it is legal to be registered in CA (not all bikes are 50 state bikes). Mercury Insurance (big in CA) will put together a policy for you as well. You pay a bit more because you are a non-resident, but it is...

    Apple VS Windows??

When I started at my current church, they gave me a MacBook Pro. After 3 weeks of using it and finding more and more software not 100% compatible, I asked if it could be returned and I get a PC. The church admin tried it and also switched to a PC. For some things they are great (graphics...

High insurance rate, who is to blame?

My insurance went down by $200 moving from California to Southern Ontario. What makes it even more interesting is that my coverage here is better (lower deductible, higher liability). Cheap insurance can be found in the U.S. if you want something like $15K coverage; you want equivalent to what...
