    ramifications of being drugged

Not quite true. I was drugged 2 different times at bars in West Hollywood (and people wonder why I don't go to bars). In both cases I remember having a drink, then the next thing was waking up several hours later. First time I apparently walked home, second time a friend drove and we...

Chain Broke Off at a Red Light

I bought a Rosey Toe's Safety Special once - never again. Won't grace his doorstep.

    Back from the Gap etc.

Yes I am saying that. Some of the side roads are amazing. We were outside of Greenville, within 5 minutes I could be on twisty roads (not like Caesar's Head, but good for a run). Get off the main roads and take some of the country roads - stunning with very few other vehicles on the road.

    Back from the Gap etc.

When I was in South Carolina, Caesar's Head was about 30 minutes from me; I agree way better than the gap. I can't figure out why the gap has such a stellar rep with riders; there are so many better roads I have ridden than the gap.

    Cali/Vegas trip this summer

Quick comment - if you refer to California as Cali down here, you will get laughed at and summarily ignored. Cali is a city in Columbia, California is the state.

    Going from a 750cc inline 4 to a 650 V twin (V strom) questions...

I have owned a Yamaha YZF600r, 2 Wee's and now have a Tiger. Wee's are very competent, but to me a bit boring - hence the tiger. If you are looking at purchasing a new 2011 Wee, consider the U.S. Dealers here are blowing them out for under $7K; the 2012 is now in stock and not much interest...

    Car shopping adventures

I walked into a BMW motorcycle dealership here in the same situation. Cash in pocket, found a bike I wanted to test drive and the sales people completely ignored me. Even when I went up to one to inquire about one bike, the guy looked at me like I had asked him to have sex on the floor. So I...

Triumph Street Triple R vs. 600cc sports bike

I voted for the Street Triple only because I hate SS bikes and currently own a Triumph Tiger and without a doubt it is the best bike I have ever owned. Rides like a work of art.

You see those on a regular basis in California. People heading up to the mountains on their motorcycle but taking their mountain bike with them. First time I saw it I did a double take, now I just go meh!

    sightings of rare bikes

When I lived in West Hollywood, a friend visited for the weekend. In the 3 days he was there we saw 3 different McLaren's (all different colours). He was floored. The Maybach's, Bentley's and Rolls seemed rather lowbrow compared to the McLaren's.

    U.S. sim card for travelling?

An unlocked canadian phone can be used in the U.S. with a U.S. sim card. For pay as you go, check out t-mobile prepaid and H20 Wireless. H20 also has great rates back to Canada if you are planning on calling home. If your phone is not unlocked, no matter what you put in it, not going to work.

    Motorcycles on HOV lanes

The HOV lanes in California allow motorcycles. I have to agree with your sentiment, many times you do not feel safer riding in them. When the speed differential is huge, I find myself hyper-vigilant about cars in the regular lane crossing into the HOV lanes, even though they are crossing a...

    Sliders/engine guards?

Check out twisted throttle, they have a couple different frame slider options for Bandits and crash guards as well. Their house brand is SW-Motech; had them on a bike that my partner crashed - they did an amazing job. If not for them, the bike would have been a write-off.

    WiFi names........

When we lived in South Carolina our wifi was named GSP Airport Wireless, GSP being the airport in Greenville, SC. Of course we were no where near the airport :D

Sat Phones, Personal Locators...etc feedback needed

If I am going to Alaska there is no way in hell I would trailer a couple of bikes there; the whole point is to ride, ride, ride. If the only way I could go was to trailer something, I would stay home and pull out my "Acme home suicide kit" - rather be dead that haul bikes for what should be an...

Check your credit card. My Visa card covers rental car insurance with no deductible. This is on a free visa, not one of those fancy ones that gain useless points. :p

Can I ship something from Canada to the US using a US return address?

What is wrong with using your Canadian address? Are you shipping it from Buffalo, hence the need for a U.S. address? If so, I have a PO Box in Oregon you could use.
