    oil change

Hello Ivana, 1) Yeah, get it nice and warm, as above give it a good 5 -10 mins boot. 2) Leave it draining as long as you can, 15 20 mins will do but overnight will be better, it really is no big deal. 3) And always check the oil when at normal operating temperature 4) its always nice to...

    Gearbox woes? Any suggestions welcome..

Hello all, So I got my 1981 Yamaha Exciter 185cc running today (See project tutorials), and I managed to take it for a brief run up the street. Everything seems to be going OK except I had a little trouble with the gears. It goes into first gear really well, I pull in the clutch and shift up...

Respray? Changing color on the documents..

To be honest, I won't start smashing things if I need to spend $10. Just don't need the hassle from the Federarlies!

Respray? Changing color on the documents..

That is just great! I only just got the bike, so I have not got the new ownership yet, when the bike is fixed up in a week or so, I will go in then and hopefully get it done at the same time. Thanks again! Great info!

Respray? Changing color on the documents..

Hello all, I was wondering if anybody knew how to officially change the colour on the ownership docs? Do you even need to? I am pretty new to the documentation in Canada. I plan to change my bike from dark blue to matt black. Any knowledge would be much appreciated! Thanks Jack

Hello TorontoBoy, Yes, that was my first concern too, frame looks to b straight and believe it or not, the tank is as clean as a whistle inside! Looking forward to getting it running as soon as I get a battery for it! Thanks! Jack

    1981 Yamaha Exciter 185cc Project

Hi RetroGrouch, Thank you for the details, the carb is last on the list but I have a spare one, needles and jets etc that came with the bike. I plan to get the rest of the bits on so that it is ridable and then assess the situation. Thanks again for the input! Very much appreciated! Jack

    1981 Yamaha Exciter 185cc Project

Hello all, I picked this up from Craigslist last week for $100. Maybe some of you are interested maybe some of you are not, but I figured I'll post anyway. I know these have a reputation for being crappy bikes, but I am hoping running this for 12 months will make it easier to insure my DRZ/KLR...

    Parts Store Downtown / Midtown?

Awesome, I have been trying to contact Glen today, but I know these places are awfully busy this time of year. I will give it a day or two and then try Heritage. Both are equal distance for me. Thank you so much for the recommendations, looks promising so far. Jack
