Carl at GP Bikes recommended shop towels (from Canadian Tire) for me. They seem to work without scratching.

Be sure you only put the Rain-X on the outside of the visor. I haven't tried, but I suspect it might make the inside fog up more easily. Anti-fog treatment on the inside is another good idea for riding in the rain.

Rain-X on the visor is a good idea. I bring a little bottle of it if I'm doing a multi-day route.

I would avoid sugar-free electrolyte replacement drinks. The sugar helps the body absorb the salts. See: http://rehydrate.org/ors/ort.htm in the "Physiology" section.

I picked up a one-piece suit made by Held at Yamaha of Oakville—sturdy and good quality. They also carry Kriega waterproof bags that will keep the rest of your stuff dry. I would definitely recommend a one-piece over two-piece. I have tried both in the rain. The one-piece kept me dry.

If you're stuck in traffic, you'll appreciate a light-colored jacket. At speed, any color is nice and cool.
