    Insurance too high?

Actually, what the data confirms is that fascism, harsh penalties and injustice are strongly correlated, but you can believe whatever you want to believe.

    family tensions

When your family sees you engaged in riding more like a lifestyle (rather than a passing interest), they'll be a little more at ease. Therefore, you should do everything you can to develop your skills as a rider. David Hough, a noted expert on motorcycle safety (and an accident-free rider...

    Insurance too high?

Murder rates (per capita) are still higher in the southern US than the national average, in spite of the preponderance of states in the south that issue the death penalty. source: http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/

    Anybody bored?? (Gear Indicator)

Holy Moly! I know Vasil... we did grad school in electronics together at the good ol' U of T. What a small world. ... Oops... my bad, wrong Vassilis Papanikolaou (from the video, looks like this Vassilis actually lives in Greece)... I guess it's a big world, then, with so many Greeks having...

    Bike finally delivered!!! Woohoo!

Congrats... the riders zipping through urban traffic on these 695/696s always look cool. Good choice.

    California Superbike School

Misti, I take it this is not a rhetorical question... are you offering free advice right here?! If not, please ignore my remaining post... Do you have any tips for improving braking technique? At track days I notice that increasing speed leading into a corner by just a little bit requires a...

    knee guard recommendations

Yeah, Forcefield is the manufacturer and T-Pro is a type of armour they make. In regards to sliding, I was referring to the jeans, not the armour. If your armour is sliding directly on pavement, then your outer layer has not done its job. It is possible to remove the strap-on knee armour if...

    knee guard recommendations

I can personally vouch for the strap-on, LOL... Seriously, though, they are T-Pro armour and I find they work very well under jeans. Better if the jeans have kevlar lining, otherwise they'll shred in a few feet of sliding on asphalt.

suggestions for Oakville to downtown daily commute

Geoff, thanks for these details... I'm glad to see that they have surveillance and dedicated parking. Probably beats parking on the street downtown.

suggestions for Oakville to downtown daily commute

Yeah, but it's difficult to pull this off with little kids... I'd have to wait about fifteen more years, LOL. The vast majority of time I log on two wheels is through commuting, and where I currently live, it's a decent way to keep skills sharper (very little traffic essentially all day). If...

suggestions for Oakville to downtown daily commute

Wow, interesting how 6:10AM is a sharp cutoff, and yet you still encounter some slowness on the Gardiner. But 30 minutes into downtown is better than I expected. Merci!

suggestions for Oakville to downtown daily commute

It was now or never! And I'm quite glad to come back. In the States, the great burden of healthcare and education costs on the average citizen puts people in survival mode, and the economic times only heighten this phenomenon. People grudgingly do the right thing.

suggestions for Oakville to downtown daily commute

Thanks for the input, everyone. I ride a Buell 1125R and want to avoid stop-and-go as much as possible! At what point does the QEW get really congested and nuts? I was thinking I could take it eastbound from Trafalgar Rd. to about the 427 with good flow (around 7AM-7:30AM) before making the...

suggestions for Oakville to downtown daily commute

I am moving back to the GTA this summer after ten years away, and I couldn't be happier about coming home. But it looks like I'll be facing a daily commute from the west end (near Trafalgar Road and the QEW) to downtown. From my gleanings on this board, it looks like even early 6AM departures...

    Slipper Clutch

I've also found that using four fingers (rather than two which is common amongst sportbike riders) on the clutch lever has made a huge difference in my clutch slipping endurance...

    Intro to track course

One course I found excellent for track preparation was Lee Parks' Total Control Advanced Riders' Clinic. Basically, they get you to the point of knee dragging in a parking lot, so by the time you get to the track, you are primed. http://www.totalcontroltraining.net/...

    your thoughts on perforated leather...

You might also consider kevlar... it's breathable and by many accounts at least as strong as leather (also available in a mesh form). I got a custom-made jacket from Motoport (http://www.motoport.com/) which has held up well in a crash at a trackday, and is comfortable in 90+ celsius Texas heat.
