Generally trade-in values are pretty atrocious...... What kind of car do you want? and what bike do you want? There are dealerships that do both motorcycles and cars... so we could help narrow it down if you gave more information.

It is a decent / so/so price... (Not an R), but I'm a huge fan of the 1190. Truth be told, I have never test ridden an 990 though. As a side note I saw a 2013 1190 at GP Bikes before summer for $13,900 and a 2014 for $14,500.... and the 990 listed is 6 years old now.

When I had the FZ-09 I purchased the entire kit for around $60 (including X-GRIP) from GPS City. Maybe leave out the DIY & Zip ties and get something that will protect your phone. As a side note, I have the Ram X-GRIP on the KTM 690 now, and my phone has never fallen out.... Even bashing...

I wouldn't let one sour experience at a dealership depict what bike YOU purchase. Get the bike you truly want, and screw everything in-between. Maybe you guys can try out Wolf BMW and see if the experience is any different.
