Grew up in Halifax. Moved to Toronto about 16 yrs ago then to Ottawa after a year. Been in Ottawa the past 15 yrs. I get home once or twice a year. Some good roads in the area.
Be sure to ride to Halifax and have a Donair at Pizza Corner. https://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl Two...
To the OP, hope this works out for you. Insane what drivers do these days. Please keep us posted of what happens.
Two years ago I witnessed a hit and run in a parking lot. Took down the license plate number, make and model of the car along with the colour and a decent description of the...
As long as she "understands" your need to ride and isn't ****** off about it, all is good. I tried to convince my girlfriend (now my wife) to enjoy riding and she just never got into it. She is OK with my owning and riding a motorcycle and doesn't have a big problem if I take off for a Sunday...
My strategy when buying my bike was to search the inventory of dealers all across Canada and list the various prices being quoted by other dealers (even if they were in BC or Alberta). I found my bike advertised in Alberta for $1,500 less than my local dealer was asking. I figured out the cost...
Typically they contact a number of motorcycle dealers to ask what the retail value of the bike would be. Sounds like in your friends case since he declared the bike worth only $6K, that is what they paid him (assuming of course the quote received were for a higher amont). A quick check at...
You might want to check with who ever you plan to use to give you and estimate and/or repair the bike. Most likely they'll pick up your bike themselves and not charge you for it.
In my experience that's not enough as he can recant his admission of guilt. Hopefully he doesn't. If you read the paperwork given to you by your insurance company, one of the things stated in their "if you have an accident" section is to never admit responsibility.
As others have said, get your dealership involved. Motorcycle insurance claims are not an appraisers bread and butter so their accuracy can leave a lot to be desired.
As far as the claim itself, definitely go through insurance! Given the fact that you were injured in the accident you risk...
Probably depends on which brand. I've got a mirror finish Arai visor. Third season with it and no problems. I clean it with light soap and water and sometimes windex (if it's really bug infested) and no scratches or wearing away.
So many potential responses so I'll stick to the basics. You say you are "In the process of rebuilding your credit". How long have you been in this process? Most banks/finance companies are looking for a trend of good bill payment (at least a year, sometimes two) before they will consider...
Renewal with MM. Up about $11. Still the best deal around for me. I do agree with others, TD MM/Primmum seems to prefer mature riders. Finally, getting old has its benefits.!
My original quote with TD was also that low but when I actually went to insure the bike the came back saying "oh, that's a different model" and a quote that was about $500 year more. After a bit of discussion about there being only one Triumph 675 Daytona they determined that I qualified for an...
I have 3. One for my gym crap, one for my work crap and one for general purpose. Probably paid less than $40 each for them. Lightweight, comfortable and fit the purpose I got them for.
I'm on my fourth season with a D675. 28,000 kms and have only had two problems. Battery died and my regulator rectifier fried as I got it out of winter storage this year. Battery was no big deal and Triumph covered the regulator rectifier ever though it was out of warranty (parts were in stock...
You'll love the triple :D
Check out insurance quotes on the Street Triple. A couple guys I know who have them say they are a lot less expensive to insure. You may not like the naked bike but it's a way to get a 675 (with a little less HP) and not pay through the nose for insurance.
Sorry to hear of your problems with TD/MM. Exact same thing happened with me when I bought my Triumph Daytona except I was dealing with TD Primmum. Like you I argued that there was only one version of the Triumph Daytona and it was unbelievable that they would give me a quote on a Triumph...
When I bought my Daytona a number of companies wouldn't even insure it. My annual premium is very reasonable but that is largely due to my age (50) and years of riding experience. And not to take this discussion off topic, but if this is your first bike I'm not sure I'd recommend the Daytona...
