    In-line fuel filter placement (1969 CB350)

Hi all. I searched around and haven't not found a definitive answer on this one. Would really appreciate any tips. THE SIMPLE QUESTION: Does it matter where on the fuel line you place an in-line fuel filter. Should it, for example, be below the level of the float bowls, or lowest point...

Best gas for an older bike?

Agreed on the premium shell 91. My go to for my '69 CB350. Of the many vintage bike mechanics I've met on my travels and enthusiasts, the common thread is no ethanol Shell. It's just a tad more per fill.

    Are older bikes high maintenance?

That was me! It ran fantastically on the way up, on the way back on the hwy it started backfiring and I could barely hold 80. Pretty hairy. Spent a while with the tool roll out in the bush but I'm thinking its a points issue. It has been causing trouble, but surprised it just went like that...

    Are older bikes high maintenance?

As my only ride is a 1969 Cb350, the simple and safest answer is hells yes. My bike is in great condition, but being old as people mention, gaskets and seals eventually fail or form cracks, points need to be adjusted, valve clearances checked, and electrical can be finicky. However, I bought...

Has commuting on your bike, reduced your passion for riding?

I go through this weekly. My commute from North York to "The Fashion" district is roughly 45 minutes regardless of bike or subway/subway/streetcar on average. I'll start off the week loving life and the ride on my 68 CB350, but the crushing traffic wears me down pretty good, especially on the...

Who The Hell Is "Intact" Insurance? They Raise My Rate $200

I'm with Jevco and they've been sending mailings about this Intact buyout for at least a year (with warning of the increase). Mine went up as well, but on a vintage bike my hands are tied.

Motorcycle parking in the Yonge/Empress area

I'm not sure of the hours, but there is green p street parking right in front of the empress walk mall. However, even if it works for your hours, they'll be lots of cars parking and leaving so that risk would be higher.

    Toronto Commute Question

I commute from North York to the core and basically anything after 730 is going be stressful traffic wise, but that's subjective. With patience for sure, but there's always bottlenecks unless you're really crafty with the route (or rather be moving than stopped even with minimal time gain). I'd...

Riding a bike for the first time this Saturday.. advice?

Heres what i found helps with the basics. Eyes forward at all times at the direction your going (of course other that looking for safety reasons). Trust your peripheral vision and feeling for what the bike is doing. This is the key to balance especially at low speed cornering as you'll be more...

    Custom work for classic Honda

I was inept mechanically, but a lot of time on niche forums and YouTube, I rebuilt a Honda from scratch. Now i actually know what a carb is because of the time I spent taking it apart and sketching diagrams so I could put it back together. Granted I have a garage, but everything you want to do...

Are 20 year old bikes good for commuting?

69 Honda CB350 owner. Daily rider coming on to my sixth year. North York to downtown. Highways but not in rush hour. Long day outings on weekends. Doesn't require rebuilds every couple months, but it takes love. If you don't have the space, or patience to learn maintenance, go new.

Does Music affect your Speed and riding style?

I almost always ride with earphones with music. I find with the medium-priced in-ears with no notice canceling act as both cutting down the high freq. wind and engine noise, but still allows the growl of engines and trucks. I don't tend to listen to high tempo rock or electronic music, so I feel...

    open face helmet

I've been using and very happy with the Nolan N43. Shape is a bit strange, but its lighter than a fully convertible, has great visibility compared to full face, safer than open. Cons would be (at least my version about 3 years old): Not a safe a full face. The chin bar on the n43 is stiff, but...

Remember to "spread" the cable end (after the nib is through) just the smallest bit so it holds onto nib (what is the proper nam for that). The soder can get on more and offer more security. You can file it down smooth after.
