Last kick at can: Triumph Bonneville

1947 here - back to bikes in '03 with a 1200 sporty; then went to a Road Glide, have had a 1000c.c. VStrom for 2 years, it is great, can do gravel easily, Harley does not. I would be looking at a shaft drive if I were changing bikes. Good luck on whatever is your choice.

    Motorcycle Towing

I have used the dirt bike hitch carrier on my Blazer a lot, even brought home my DL1000 with it, but it was way overloaded and not smart. For a dirt bike or light bike its fine, but for your smaller car it would be a no go. A light rail trailer should be ok for you.

    short VIN, lost permit

Actually, I spoke too soon, before I returned to Service Ontario with better info, the vin is still not found, there is no record of it ever being registered in Ontario, must have come in from out of province, checked CPIC and at least the vin did not show up there. It's an 80 XS I got for...

    short VIN, lost permit

The op said the bike was an '80, the VIN on the xs650 web site seems to support that. Low rider, my problem is the Ministry says the vin "is not found" therefore i cannot get a UVIF and do the stat dec for lost permit after giving notice to the listed last registered owner. I think I will...

    short VIN, lost permit

I remember reading a thread about short VIN's a while back, but I cannot find it now. I bought a '80 Yamaha in boxes, but no ownership, it has a short VIN (6 digits). In the past I have been able to get UVIF's for these short VIN's today the otherwise pleasant clerk said the vin could not be...

Ladie's 5'4 and under and an SS

may not be real helpful, but on my tall bike, i sometimes ride in the right wheel track coming to a stop and the left foot can be placed on the higher middle of the lane - flat foot without the bum squirm.

Fold up trailer for towing HD?

In Leduc next August is the national meet for dog agility, my wife's hobby. The meet ends just as Sturges starts. We would have to cage it there with the dog and equipment, but I could tow the Road Glide behind the CRV to ride after we get there. I would like to find a trailer that could be...

So frogg toggs suck..... Recomendations on rain gear?

I bought a set of Frogg Toggs at the Bobcaygeon bike fest this summer and used them for two days in October, kept me surprisingly dry, the vendor sold me a jacket in hi-viz yellow and black pants. Mark me in the satisfied column.

    Suzuki vstrom DL1000: YEAR/AGE important?

The difference in weight between 650 and 1000 is minimal and the extra power you get with the 1000 makes it not worth thinking about. My 2008 DL1000 has 18,000 km on it, 16,000 of them my miles since late 2010, seems like it is just getting broken in, reliable as an anvil, but much quicker.

Mounting Scala Rider to Scorpion EXO Helmet

OK, I am trying to put the Helmet clamp for the Scala Rider Q2 onto my Scorpion EXO helmet. Problem is, the edge of the helmet is too thick to use the clamp and there does not seem to be enough level smooth surface for the glue plate to adhere securely to. Has anyone else had this problem and...

Why oh why do I want more...... What's wrong with me (Group Therapy required)

Try taking it on secondary roads, some freshly graded gravel in the country, you will not need speed for thrills. Use the bike differently - the ennui will pass.
