Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Re: TPS Officer from 52 Division Died today:( Cause you know it's better to give someone zero chance because they might not be effective rather than letting honest law abiding citizens have a fighting chance if they're threatened... :jerk:

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Re: Police State Canada 2010 and the G20 Summit Why the high risk takedown? There was no evidence he assaulted anyone or made threats. Only a 'maybe, possibly'. The man was legally allowed to possess and use a firearm on that property. Sounds to me like the police are the ones getting far...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Re: Police State Canada 2010 and the G20 Summit Why was the man arrested? He had a permit to fire the shotgun. Did he threaten anyone?

    Any good Cable TV packages?

I'm no expert but I think you have up to 3 days to get out of any contract.

Shopping in the USA / Declaring items

Reasonable family purchases shouldn't be taxed at all. We supposedly live in a free market economy. How can you be charged sales tax on something you didn't buy in the province or country!!!!!???? That's theft IMHO.

Who cares about the long gun registry?

You and Duster are right, I meant to say whatever reasonable force necessary as I mentioned reasonable measures. Of course there are limitations to the force you use to defend yourself, the problem remains during the heat of the moment, how is one able to judge what is reasonable? If an intruder...

Who cares about the long gun registry?

I do understand the difference between the CBoR and the Charter. But you aren't getting the concept of the Charter. Let me make this simple for you. The right to self defense and property rights are NOT in the Charter or the Constitution. That doesn't mean they do not exist. You are thinking of...

Who cares about the long gun registry?

Canada's soverignity has nothing to do with what we are talking about. The building blocks to our legal system is the English Bill of Rights. Before we were Canada, we were a British colony, after Confederation the rights we had didn't stop. Perhaps you missed the part about our Constitution and...

Who cares about the long gun registry?

+1 sensible firearms legislation is what we need. What we're getting is fear mongering and people relying on emotion to set policy.

Who cares about the long gun registry?

Try the English Bill of Rights, which our entire society is based on. Keep in mind the Constitution is not a document which can take away rights, only protect existing ones.

Who cares about the long gun registry?

To be honest, I'd have no problem with that unless you've shown in your past to have a violent criminal history or a medical issue which would prevent you from exercising sound judgement. We need less bans, and more personal responsibility.

Who cares about the long gun registry?

Look at the crime rates/murder rates. The states that have less firearms restrictions are generally safer than the ones that have more firearms restrictions. Is it any wonder states like Florida have seen their crime rates drop once they started allowing C+C?

Who cares about the long gun registry?

I believe that we have a fundamental right to own property, especially items which we may use to defend ourselves (another inherent right). Having said that, a license is a reasonable restriction imho but not when it may lapse over a period of time. You are either properly trained or not, it...

Who cares about the long gun registry?

Why should licenses expire in the first place? How come some individuals do not receive renewal paperwork or file their paperwork and never have it processed by the government backlog??? Some reports have license renewals taking MONTHS Does your car get confiscated when your driver's license...

Who cares about the long gun registry?

For starters, the RCMP should have absolutely zero to do with classification of firearms, and there is absolutely no reason why a firearm should be restricted based on aesthetics. Who should we lobby btw? The Liberals, NDP and Bloc are all openly anti-firearm and would jump at the chance to put...

Who cares about the long gun registry?

Which government was responsible for passing the security legislation? Last time I checked it was McGuinty and Bill Blair who are as LEFT as they come. But I do agree with you that the rights of the individuals at the G20 protests are just as important as the rights of firearms owners. We are...

Who cares about the long gun registry?

I always love the US firearms examples. Check out the rate of murders in states that restrict private ownership of firearms and compare that with states that are 'shall issue' or Conceal and Carry states. Armed law abiding citizens = Freedom Disarmed law abiding citizens = Victims

Who cares about the long gun registry?

You are aware you do not have to grant them access when they want. Next time, tell them it is an inconvenient time for you and to schedule something that's better for you. As scary as this sounds, the police know about as much about the firearms laws and regulations as the average non-firearms...

Who cares about the long gun registry?

What I don't get is why is it a one or the other issue? The facts are there, anyone with half a brain can see it's a waste of money. The Liberals, NDP, Cons and Bloc could have just said "Hey lets pass this quickly, save our money and move on to the important issues" Instead they all bicker...
