Why Android is better than iPhone.

Can't believe I got sucked back in here... Those are two of the most ludicrous comparisons I've ever seen. If I bought a toaster AND it required being plugged into a phone jack, then yeah, I'd probably want to make sure it wasn't going to rack up long distance charges. When you buy any...

Why Android is better than iPhone.

I can spin arbitrary numbers too. According to the same company, looking at recently acquired phones (within the last 6 months) as of Aug this year, Android has 32% market share vs iPhone's 25%...

Why Android is better than iPhone.

Why is that funny? I'd much rather be able to see what my apps want to do before installing them. If an app claims to manage wallpapers, and it wants permission to send sms messages, I'd like to know about this. And why wouldn't you blame the user? If a user downloads and installs a random...

Nissan Juke Commercial - What you guys think?

I think it's a commercial. And I think that if you're offended by it, you need to grow a thicker skin.

haha! I'm with you in some respects, Brian. I'd still rather receive/make a phone call than receive/send a text message. But these things are much more than phones these days. I'd even go so far as to say that the phone is no longer even the primary function, but has become secondary to its...

Why Android is better than iPhone.

without being able to see the actual app, I can't say for certain, but this is something I'd blame on the users installing it. When you go to install an application, the system tells you all the permissions that the application is requesting. In this case, the application would be requesting...

Why Android is better than iPhone.

I'd be interested in seeing some examples of these viruses that everyone keeps talking about. The applications are very well sandboxed on android, and permission must be granted by the user for the various things an app wants access to (network data, gps, phone calls, sms, etc). I've never...

Why Android is better than iPhone.

Jailbreaking your phone is not even a little bit like going the open source route...Your OS is still closed source, but now you can install apps from outside the market. You seem to be mistaking two completely different aspects. Open source doesn't mean that you can install apps from wherever...

Why Android is better than iPhone.

Wow. Way to contribute to the debate. As an aside, I forgot about one of the things I love most about Android over iPhone: not having to puchase a mac or jump through a ****-ton of hoops to do development. But that's not something the common user would concern themselves with.

I suggest you google rejected iPhone apps. That should give you a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about. Can you install any of them without jailbreaking your phone?

Why Android is better than iPhone.

ok, let's try this again. a) Yes, you can jailbreak an iPhone. That has been established. The point here I'm trying to make is that you are required to do so in order to get the freedom that the Android OS grants out of the box. b) I don't know what malware you're talking about. I've never...

Only if you want to use apps that require root access. You can, however, install apps from outside sources without rooting the phone, which is a huge plus over the iPhone in my book.

And constantly stating something is junk without providing any reason doesn't help anyone to believe you have an informed opinion.

Why Android is better than iPhone.

The battery thing is a non-issue for most iPhone users. By the time it dies, the new iPhone will have come out and they'll have replaced their perfectly functional iPhone with the shiny new iPhone. You know, the one with the wifi's and the 32 gee-bees.

Why Android is better than iPhone.

This is an issue with the handset companies and not with the OS. Companies like Samsung and HTC need to find a way to differentiate themselves. Since Android is open-source, it's easy for them to go and add extra features that are exclusive to their phones. And that's exactly what it is...

That's how I've always heard it too, despite the fact that the entire reg setup DOES look like an octopus... Not to mention the additional bottom time you get over tables.

Agreed, which is why I've been holding off on the expensive stuff. I had a good idea of what I was looking for in a wetsuit/fins/etc after talking to a bunch of experienced divers.

I am currently renting only tanks, regs and BCD. I bought everything else, because when I did the math on it, the number of times I'd need to rent this year alone would pay for more than half the cost of buying. I'll get regs and BCD (and computer) next year, probably, since I'd really rather...
