    "air cooled" motorcycle owners? speak-up!

What's up with the negativity? Air-cooled are rare when compared to most street bikes built after 2000. The whole idea was to put together a thread for people that own motorcycles that don't necessarily "fit" the modern scene, these can be old or new, Harley or Honda, spoked or comstar. Who...

BTW, going again this year. Perhaps some of the "air cooled" crowd would like to meet there?

    Camping at Friday the 13th

If you don't actually expect to sleep (informal loud exhaust competition until 3am and guys running on speed), I did this 2 years ago and had a good time: CAMPING FOR FRIDAY THE 13TH AT PORT DOVER SILVER LAKE PARK, 5 MIN. WALK TO DOWN TOWN Gates open Thursday morning on the 12th . Camp...

How often to you clean chain

Me neither, but sometimes you get caught in it! I once got hit with torrential rain and near-golf ball sized hail somewhere in Port Carling! I was surprized I made it home in one piece! The chain still looked oiled and fine.

That's hard to believe. I think the western media is on a campaign to discredit Putin at every stop.

    Need easier Clutching

Kudos to you for staying on two wheels. I will stop riding when I'm dead! Now, perhaps it's time to consider a Burgman or possibly one of the newer automatic motorcycles (Aprilia)? No shame in that!

    Cruisers and sport bikes

I can relate to some of your comments. I started on easy-peasy "standards" (CB500), progressed to uncomfortable sport-tourers (SV1000S, K1200RS), dabbled in top-heavy adventure bikes (KLR650, Tiger 955i) and then transitioned back to a simple upright standard (CB750). The majority of rides seem...

How often to you clean chain

Good point, and yes, I'm probably wasting my time with the 500km lube interval. I think I do it more for cosmetic reasons, as a clean/oiled chain looks so nice! Again, I make a habit of tossing on a new chain every second rear tire change. Sprockets, for some reason, never seem to wear out for me!

slight oil weep from valve cover gasket...

True, but as they say: "beggars can't be choosers". :) If he's fairly local, I would inspect the parts in person to determine overall condition. Photographs often never tell the whole story. Perhaps you can work him down to a lower and more reasonable price if he knows you're a Radian owner...

Hats off to you as that's alot of motorcycle for under $600. Very interesting build idea... and I would suspect a real challenge to work within the confines of $600!

How often to you clean chain

I quick wipe with kerosene, and then a quick wipe with 80w gear oil, every 400-500 km. That's it. My chains always give me 20,000km+ service life. They are a consumable, don't sweat it. Every other rear tire change, stick a new one on.
