I wear JR Alter Ego jacket. Armour works for me and the 4 season flexibility works for me. The newer edition is very waterproof, especially with all of the layers on.
I stopped worrying about pants a few years ago, although I used to wear JR Ballistic pants and just open the zippers from the top...
Re: once in a lifetime on Vancouver Island
In my riding career, in no particular order, I've hit or come across the following:
Last year, was able to avoid hitting a fairly large racoon but still clipped him with one of my front rotors. Several years ago, took out a flying female turkey with...
Keep in mind that WV doesn't have a roaming plan with any Canadian Phone company, or didn't the last time I was down that way. Phone was useless once I entered that state.
Mind you, the last few trips, we've always just passed through WV in one long glorious day. Stayed in VA and MD those trips.
I had a MRA years ago on my ZR7s. I'm 6'2" and thought it would help the buffeting. But all I can remember from that time is that was a bit better than the stock screen but the difference wasn't worth the price that I had paid for it.
spend some extra bucks and put a top case on the back. on the plus side, your passengers will feel more relaxed and safer having something resembling a back rest. :-)
Go to a shop, try different brands and different sizes. The helmet should be snug but not painful. With a puny little head like yours, you should have lots of choices. I wear a Shoei RF1200 in black. Mostly, because it comes in XXXL. I have a big head. lol
As long as it is nice on my way to my destination, I don't give a rat's *** what it does on my way home..... rain, snow, sleet, downpours, tornadoes, whatever. :-)
I wear a JR Alter Ego jacket, in Hi-vis yellow. I was the first person up around here to have one. I did get noticed. On the plus side, I've never been pulled over for speeding. I am wearing Hi-vis, so therefore, I must be safety conscious. And being safety conscious, I couldn't possible be...
I did this for a few years.
This is a good time and well managed. It is a very interesting experience working with lots of good people.
I only stopped doing the ride because my favorite partner died of cancer in 2013.
And that kind of took the fun out of it.
If you have never done something like...
My friends and I do a trip to the BRP on an extended long weekend. The key to slab it out of Ontario, get south of Springville, NY and take the twisties where ever possible. In 4 days, you can generally only get as far south-west as Roanoke, VA as your half way point (we start Saturday morning...
I've done Bar Harbor in a long weekend a few times. The best trip though, was making it a 4 day weekend. To do the trip in a relaxed way, you really needed to be able to start your Saturday in Northern Vermont or North West Maine. The long part of the trip is slabbing it out of Ontario, usually...
That sucks. My ride involves some nice back country roads. The biggest places I have to get through are Guelph (which I know very well) and a part of Cambridge.
Just got back in from a shopping trip, lunch stop at a new-to-me restaurant and a round trip on the Forks. Not a bad way to spend an hour and a half in the middle of a Monday (vacation day).
I do not remember the roads being that bad. I guess it depends where you are coming from. My trip there, from here, does not involve a single 400 series highway. But does go through Paris. Ah, Paris in the springtime. lol
