absolutely you did the right thing.
He could have been scoping the bike, you, the house or all of the above.
I make note of every vehicle that doesn't belong in our area and everybody who walks by. We live in a cul de sac so there shouldn't be any drive through traffic.

as you're finding out, track people are some of the best you'll find anywhere.
I've never seen anyone left without help or a bike that needs work on it to get someone back on the track.
It's just the opposite. Somewhat of a swarming at times with people trying to see if they can do anything...
we go twice a year and wouldn't miss it. There are so many awesome roads and things to do while we're there. It is so much more than any videos or pictures can represent. I was surprised how much more intense it was in person.
