Welcome and awesome bike! As for the Suzuki dealer, you lucked out on your sale- they offer great prices but some of the salesman are shady. Not uncommon to see a salesman trying to sell a first time rider a GSXR 1000 in there.

That would be getting very lucky, considering the best quote I could find on a 250R was $3600.00 for a first year.
