    Jacket but no gloves?!?

I have fallen at 90kph and the first thing I did was put my hands out. I had gloves and was lucky. It was instinctive, I had no time to think "oh I should land like this". I always ride with gloves, Jacket, jeans and shoes... No sandles!

Thinking of getting a Harley? Maybe a Kawi?? Any recomendations?

I know the '07 and up have internal balancers in them, the Fatboy was smooth when the rpm went above idle. Hows that night train on the highway as far as vibration? I don't want my hands to fall asleep. I was looking at the Vrod, it is a sweet bike but didn't fit me well. I was looking at the...

Thinking of getting a Harley? Maybe a Kawi?? Any recomendations?

Ive rode a Vulcan 800 and a C90 and the Fatboy had a better ride and feel but it was a new 2012 demo. Also I was thinking of using aftermarket add on's to lower the cost. When I took the demo I aimed for every pothole I could find, 10 times softer than the R6... I know there is a cost premium...

    Motorcycle Speedo" never right!

Keeps the cops off my tail If I ride the normal 15km over then I'm likely not to get a speeding ticket. Mayby this explains my good driving record??

Thinking of getting a Harley? Maybe a Kawi?? Any recomendations?

I'd like your opinion, I am looking at a Harley Softail for my birthday. I was wondering if anyone has any insight to these bikes and if it is a good bet. I've had many bikes in the past and the R6 I currently ride (road use only) has a bad habit of crushing my junk :compress: when I ride for...

Used bike: dealer or private seller?

Some dealers offer no waranty. Make sure its on paper before you buy and check what is covered under waranty. I've bought almost 1/2 my bikes private and never had an issue. If it has low km's, easily starts when cold and hot, rev's without issue and has no wierd noises thats a good start.

Serpa (formerly Open Road) BMW in Newmarket

Thats pretty low ball. For a major manufacturer to demand a "Donation" to test drive a vehicle is going about it the wrong way. Imagine if you wanted to buy a Honda Civic and everyone testing the car had to pay for a ride? I am reaching a tipping point on Charities as it is. Every retailer has...

    Day Trip Ideas?

The wife and I have started Geocaching. www.geocaching.com If you have a portable GPS (or cell phone with one in it) you can look for caches in any city in the world. There's like 100 around York region alone. It gives us a reason to head to a new place we haven't been before and it's a great...

Long Distance Riding - Seat Comfort Suggestions?

I'd buy a used seat on ebay or Kijij and pull the staples out of the vinyl and cut a patch of foam out of the bottom and fill it with whatever might work for you. I've seen Gel pads for this purpose on line. Once I get looking I found a gel pad for wheelchair use and figured thats got to be...

Whopping $2,100/Yr Insurance For Yamaha R6 Kills Deal For Me

I ride from April to October, basically any day its not raining or above 10 degrees, works out to 7 months. I fork over $800 / yr with state farm for my '07 R6. Not bad, I don't have collision though, if I wanted that it would be in the $1000 range. I'd call State Farm and ask for a quote...

    2012 Demo Days

Re: 2012 Suzuki Demo Ride Spoke to a guy at Yamaha of Newmarket. He mentioned they weren't doing a demo day and if not, likely Suzuki of Newmarket won't either. They are the same owners. He mentioned $21,000 for the event insurance.... With the prices of their parts and service I wonder how...

    Sintered Brake Pads

When the wife had her 250 ninja, i switched from factory OEM to EBC HH. She went from full fist crunch on the lever to 2 fingers. Like the others said, they do wear down the rotor but I'd prefer to stop fast than have to spend a few bucks after 40k riding.

    2012 Demo Days

Went to the Oshawa Harley Dealer yesterday. Great event, They had about 20 bikes in all. Well organized, just had to sign a waver and show them my licence. Took out a Fatboy Slim for a 5 - 7 minute ride around the GM plant. Very impressed with the bike. I will likely get one now based on that...

Best way to straighten bent shifter

I fixed my wife's by getting a large adjustable wrench, closing the jaws on the rubber part (bottom of the L) and using a bit of force, bent it back into place. With aluminum, you take the the risk of breaking it but if it's chrome steel, don't worry.

Good (honest) Dealer - Mechanic - Newmarket Area?

I went to Edge once and it was great. Others i talked to had no issues. Suzuki of Newmarket is expensive! I do my own work otherwise.

    new bike new problems

Sounds like your running slightly lean. The carbs drying out can leave deposits that can affect your jetting. Try a dose of Seafoam carb cleaner. If that doesn't work, open your idle jet screws 1/2 to a full turn.

    1987 fz750 running issues

Sounds like a lean condition. When you cleaned the carbs did you pull all the jets and run wires through all the jets and air holes to make sure they are all clear and clean with carb cleaner? Idle to 5k is the pilot circuit. If plugged enough it will cause problems higher up as well.

    Cable TV: Rogers vs. Bell

I switched to Shaw sat from Bell sat. Saved about 30%, got more channels and upgraded to 2 free hi-def boxes and now have free hi-def channels. Bell sure begged when I cancelled, best phone call ever. They even called a week later begging forgiveness if I would come back. Went from $81 / month...
