I recently insured a 2002 Yamaha YZF-600R Thundercat from SF for very cheap, I believe they quoted me under $700 for basic with a car on the policy. Yamaha made this bike from 1997-2007 and you can get a nice example online for a reasonable amount of money. Watch out for 2nd gear, if it pops out...
I don't know any girls that ride a sportster, but i know at least 2 guys that do. It's a nice bike, too nice to park in a school parking lot unattended, and too nice to drop on it's side.
There are MANY beginner bikes, not just the NINJA. :)
Rebel
Marauder
CBR
Shadow
GS500

There are lots of reasons not to buy a new bike, especially an expensive harley as your first.
There will be many bikes, unless you get the wrong one as your first one. Beginner bikes hold their value, and a used bike doesn't hurt nearly so bad if you lay down. Also as Lanny said, get ready to...
Sometimes the only way to shake a tailgater is to pull over. The same would apply on a motorcycle. I've had to do this, especially on the 400, where long stretches tend to encourage target fixation.
State farm is picky about tickets. They refused to insure me until my last ticket comes off my license. Luckily that happens on Saturday, so I get to save about $2000 on insurance compared to Jevco. :)
from the site:

I'm reading some posts about other ZX6R's stalling, some posters are advising to clean the tank as well. I'd say if the seafoam doesn't do it, just pay the 4 bills to have the repair done.
Sounds about right. I would try not to leave the seafoam in the fuel system/tank too long though! If you're going to burn through the 2 tanks of gas right away, then giv'r. If not, I'd try 1 tank or even just half a tank and see how it goes. Seemed to work for this dude with a 98 ZX9R...
That sounds about right, I spent more than twice that to get my carbureted thunder cat running, same kind of situation: low km's, lots of sitting.. mine is an 02.
She purrs like a kitten now!
That cabbie is lucky the boarder didn't have a bunch of friends around. I hope he gets whats coming to him!!
Tough guy behind the wheel of a 4000lb crown victoria, but I bet he's a pussy mano a mano. Going to be somebody's *****!!
