My father was born in/near Lodz, Poland 1920(d'85). He never talked about the war. As I understand it, after being demobbed, he tossed his medals off a bridge into the Thames.
There were 2 groups. One of the riders in the first group had trekked up from Columbus, Ohio to take part in the Mods n Rockers festivities. He'd asked if anyone was riding on Sunday so off we went.
I was gunning the first group on K75s, so I guess I saw you too. :P
