Anyone have experience with shipping a car within Canada?

Shipping by rail: ~$600-700 and supposedly insured vs. Letting you drive it home for me: $250 for one way ticket + $500 in gas + 3500 kms of mileage + trusting a complete stranger with my new car. Sounds like a no brainer to me. What wkend works best for you? :P

Anyone have experience with shipping a car within Canada?

Ive been hearing a lot of horror stories with Searail (extensive dmg to cars, missing items etc) and was wondering if anyone can recommend a shipping company to transport a car from Edmonton to T.O.

    2012 Auto Show

I think you meant H6, not V6 :) I have the turbo boxer engine in my legacy and it is a far nicer motor than the H6. The boxer layout is inherently balanced and its nice and torquey from low revs. The only downside is that you have to really stay on top of maintenance. Strict 5k oil changes...

    Can u smoke it? (W/P)

Correct. But the rider is the weakpoint and unless you have actually practiced launching, its surprisingly hard to get close to what the magazine testers do. Based on my time slips, my 4 door grocery getter would outlaunch my R1 (and most other street bikes I have seen at tmp who aren't avid...

    Can u smoke it? (W/P)

Most mildly modded bikes are going to be limited by the riders skill in launching it and will still be slower than the magazine time. For cars, a decent place to find out what a given car runs with various levels of mods is www.dragtimes.com

    Can u smoke it? (W/P)

LOL. I dont understand why people are sitting here with their calculators trying to figure out which is faster based simply on two variables when the answer are already out there based on real world drag racing numbers.

    Can u smoke it? (W/P)

By experienced, do you mean your name is ricky gadson? On a non lowered, stock wheelbase 600, I'd bet most street riders would be lucky to get into the high 10's on a 600. Power to weight is important, but it starts to matter less the faster you go. In a roll-on encounter, a lot of 600 riders...

    Car shopping adventures

Re: test drives The difference between how high end and lower end dealerships treat their customers with respect to test drives is pretty interesting. My best friend went to a mazda dealership when shopping for a winter beater and went through the same BS that many of your have described just...

    Another gas price thread !

And I feel bad for those with less than 150 rwhp :P I have three vehicles that require prem and I dont really care about gas price increases. I live 15 minute from the downtown core, all my driving/riding is for pleasure, and I own energy stocks. If anything, gas price increases are a net gain...

    Muffler Delete, void warranty ?

In my experience, cops are extremely lenient with american v8's or semi/true exotics with loud exhausts and will generally turn a blind eye to it. Its just the way they are supposed to sound :) I was never hassled, even when I chanced driving to the shop with headers dumped straight out of...

    Bought a 2010 R1...feedback

The dip can be addressed through exhaust and tuning. According to my friends that own the cross plane bikes, the factory left a lot on the table that can be unlocked through ecu mods. Yes, expect to get cooked.. but decatting the pipe helps alot.

    Google buying RIM?

Im not in IT, so I cant speak to the security advantages RIM may have. I can say that in the past, data security was the one thing that tied end users dealing with highly confidential information (i.e. legal / banking / investment management sector) to RIM. This is no longer the case. While BB's...

    Muffler Delete, void warranty ?

This has generally been my experience when I owned my Camaro. Having friends that work at the service dept also tends to help :) For a couple hundred of bucks, Id strongly recommend getting a cutout so at least you have the option of closing it up if you need to. Or get the pipes made with a...
