It's not so much the actual sticker, it's the chemical used on the sticker that can weaken the structural integrity of the helmet which makes it "illegal" Arai says you can add stickers to their helmet, but certain helmets made out of certain composites should not have any kind of adhesive...

Awww man.. that sucks!! I'm sorry to hear that! I guess this is a hard lesson learned that if you do get another one, always always always tether it to your bike with a lanyard of some sort.. I'm sorry, that's just horrible :(
