engine oil dirty close to 1000km mark...

I would be more concerned with oil that does turn black. One of the primary responsibilities of engine oil is to suspend dirt in it. The filter should them remove the larger pieces of dirt (not talking about sand size dirt, more like dust size or smaller). Take a piece of black carbon and...

    Things are getting soft

Some bikes have a large arm on one leg of the centre stand, and that will tilt the bike a way off to the right, before the wheels stabalize it. I use a plastic thing I got from Haugens one summer, and I use it all the time, regardless of weather. Habits are hard to forget. Mine also has a...

    amicable breakups...do they exist?

You just bought a house? Broke up with your girlfriend of 2 years? You got to watch the living arrangement with that new house to worry about.

    Who's Fault Is It?

play it back in 1080p mode and listen to the bike as he gets to the intersection. Does he not speed up slightly as he starts to move around the truck? That move should have been made with the brakes on, and buttload of shoulder and sightline checks. This is like riding along a long line of...

    Caught at Customs

Given that you now have to show passport, and they have the ability to scan the passport, they now know all they need to about you. If you get sent off for inspection, and you fail, or someone in your car fails, chances are very good that every time you cross and they scan your passport, you...

chain adjustment on or off a stand?

Not sure why either, but, in that case, Ford was telling customers to run a very low tire pressure to compensate for having a heavy tire that rode rough at a "normal" pressure. In this case, OEM was wrong. Very wrong, and I still do not understand how they managed to put the blame on Firestone.

    HTA 172 / Racing - Stunting law

At first there were very few first hand posts of being charged, recently there have been more I think. I also think the number of vehicles blasting by in the left lane has dropped a fair bit. Not sure if it is fear, or just a cycle type thing. Sort of like the lynx to rabbit type thing..

punching vin number into new frame ?

I could have been mistaken, but he did show up in a yellow Caravelle, with a red light on top, he was wearing a blue uniform that said Metropolitan Toronto Police on the shoulder, and had a gun. It is possible he was not a cop though. To the OP. Instead of asking here, why not just call MOT...

punching vin number into new frame ?

Back in 1981 I was at Pit Shop Bikes on Kingston Road near Galloway. I was talking to Jerry (the owner) and a cop came in. Did not notice what division he was from, the local division was 43. Jerry showed the cop a bike, and the cop pulled out a punch set and put the VIN on the frame of the...

Givi rack snapped and just before trip. :(

if it is the same rack that he got with the bike from me 2 years ago, it was the first generation GIVI mount for a VFR. Don't think GIVI even sells it anymore. The load limit on that rack was something like 10kg I think. New rack uses oval or rectangular tubing instead of round tubing.

    would it be disrespectful??

As much as many think that people learn from others mistakes, it rarely happens. We have decades worth of documentation of bike crashes. if we all learned from others mistakes, would that not mean we should already know and have learned? Human nature is that you learn from your own mistakes...

Days as an apprentice are over

That sucks if the do that now. I wrote for my licence in 1980 I think. Got the inter-provincial (red seal). Back then it took 3 months to get results. The year I wrote my test, they changed the rules and renewal became the day you wrote the test, instead of your birthday.

    Went Down Today - FML

I would imagine her eyes were on the lights, and hoping they would change before she got there. Willing to bet we have all done that. Pretty easy to miss a bike when approaching from behind as well, that is the smallest size, and least lit a bike can be. If the rider was wearing dark...

    Bikes for tall guys

Depends on how new you want as well, a first gen FZ1 is a fairly large bike, I have one, I am 6' tall with short legs, so my body is about the same as someone 6'3 or 6'4.

    Who ordered G20 violations

If you choose to not accept my opinion as to why they did not step in, there is nothing I can say that will change that. Standing back is a recognized tactic to deal with these situations. You could just look it up yourself if you have any interest in opening your mind. But I would imagine you...

    Scooter people, pls 'splain.

It is even simpler than that, every time you go for a ride, you are always within 5km of your home. On every ride. Can't get away from it, you have to ride near your house just to ride. See how statics can be turned to show something?
