FYI, as of two days ago neither Flynn's at the junction of Hwy 36 & 507, nor the gas station in Gooderham had fuel. The nearest place for fuel was Wilberforce.
Aside from the obvious (507, Cty Rd. 3 aka Glamorgan Road) there's Dyno Road or, if you're pressed for time, Northey's Bay Road/Cty Rd. 56 which isn't very far out of your way (only a few minutes north of Burley Falls). Lots of other hidden gems but they're quite a bit out of your intended...
There won't be much left to store if you change the gearbox oil at the same time.
I used Amsoil synthetic gear lube in my R1100S - cheaper than buying the BMW oil. Mind you, pretty much everything is cheaper than the BMW equivalent. :)
Hah! It's the IOM police doing the investigating. Martin is a living legend who's brought the IOM to the attention of a crapload of people. How deep will the inspectors dig before the whole thing goes away. Besides, Martin could just tell them he was dictating the article via Dragon and he was...
I'm sure there are lots of us riding bikes that can blow the speed limit in first gear and triple it or better in top gear but you won't likely find too many willing to admit to it on a forum known to be monitored by LEOs, let alone be stupid enough to post video evidence of it for use by the...
Too true. There's little point in paying for collision anyway, the bodywork is worth more than the whole - if it's damaged the carrier will just write the bike off.
With the right adapters and handlebar selection there's usually no need to trim anything. If the rise is not too ridiculous it's also possible to keep the existing cables and hydraulic lines with a little careful rerouting, too.
Look at a flat bar conversion and swap out the pegs for some Buell units, they're pretty much a straight bolt-on conversion. Those two mods should make you forget about changing rides. There's lots of info and how-to stuff on the Blackbird-specific sites like CBRXX.com.
There's usually a relay under the seat that powers the high beam. Make sure it's getting both battery power and the trigger voltage when the switch is operated. It may have a bad coil or just be stuck.
So you're saying that the engineers assigned to pedal ergos intentionally designed the pedals to be operated only by drivers wearing thick, hard-soled shoes? Seriously?
I'm beginning to think you are arguing for argument's sake.
If you look at a pair of proper racing shoes you will see that it is very much about tactile feedback. More feel enables more precise inputs. The force you mention being "wasted" in bending the foot up is actually an important part of the feedback loop.
Newton didn't drive, by the way, and you...
Why is it bad practice? You have better feel and control barefoot than in thick soled footwear. In fact, some performance driving instructors will recommend driving barefoot.
Riding a motorcycle barefoot, however, would most definitely be bad practice. ;)
That ^ guy knows what he's talking about. Your planned filter is no upgrade. It will not stop as much foreign particulate as the stock filter (which flows more than enough air to supply the engine) so all it will provide is dirtier oil and scored cylinders.
