"Forever Yonge" Anyone ever driven/rode the entire length of Yonge st?

Well, if you've made up your mind to do 11, make sure you stop in Cochrane and see the Polar Bears - you can even wade with them (separated by a few inches of glass) - a kid meeting a bear:

"Forever Yonge" Anyone ever driven/rode the entire length of Yonge st?

Make sure you can do 300+ kms per tank, or carry gas. The distances up north are quite far. LongLac to Hearst is 300ish kms - no gas between. I've ridden to Thunder Bay 4 times in the past couple years - Did 11 once on the way home and it was really, really boring. Take 17. If you're looking...

    Tubeless tires with tubes?

There's absolutely no problem using tubes in a tubeless tire. The only problem you'll find is the bead is harder to break if you're changing it yourself.

    Honda reliability

I'm always amazed how 100K is considered a lot for a bike - I've seen everything from R1's to harley's to wings with over 200k - even thumpers rolling their odometers. Rode with a connie that's spun its odometer twice. Dude down in the southern US had 500,000 Miles (800,000 kms) on his BMW...

    Looking for Rain Gear suggestions

Do you have the motorcycle frogg toggs or the regular ones? Difference in quality. Personally, I ride in a gore-tex suit everyday so I never have to worry about putting on a suit - it's always waterproof. Rode in temps over 40c without issue (apart from sweating).

Heading down to Harrisburg Pennsylvania this week-end have a question...

Did a very similar route last weekend to Bloomsburg PA - take 20A south of buffalo to 390 so you miss 90 and the tolls. Enjoy your ride - it's only 6 hours of riding total - all of the side roads are 55 where the interstates are 65 - look for the side roads and you'll enjoy it more and it...

    BMW Bikes?

I ride 20K+ kms a year, and my BMW will get me to over 200K kms easy - not a glass half empty guy, just a realist. They're known problems, so one simply does a major service at 100K kms to replace the bearing that fails before it does, replace the clutch slave (both combined are $300 in parts)...

Are other riders actions turning cagers against us......?

The number of times in the past month I've seen motorcycles using bike lanes to get ahead of traffic is starting to get to me... In the past two weeks, saw 3 people making a left from Fort York blvd to Bathurst from the bike lane, and two people on Queens Quay passing stopped cars via the bike...

    BMW Bikes?

I ride a GS, and I have to say it's one of the best bikes I've owned. I put 20K+ kms on it every year. However, it will leave me someday on the side of the road with a blown final drive, or the clutch slave spewing brake fluid on my clutch, or the oil sight glass will fly out. The bikes last...

How many KM's on the engine have you seen?

Here's more than 450K MILES (700,000+ KMs) http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=278021 Canadians don't ride very much, so we tend to think about 50K kms as being the end of the line - most bikes will get you past 100K without issue. It works well for those like me that aren't...

Best place to get hitch installed (wired)?

I just looked up the install instructions for the uhaul hitch (OEM valley hitch: http://www.etrailer.com/instructions.aspx?pn=V82000) and it's a few bolts to install it yourself. There's even a video to show you how...

An Argument for Riding Faster Than The Rest Of Traffic

Let's try some fact for this one... http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/roadsafety/tp-tp2436-rs200807-menu-158.htm Single vehicle crashes where speeding was a factor accounted for more than 50% of all accidents. Motorcyclists are the highest growth area for speed related deaths. "Ninety percent of the...

An Argument for Riding Faster Than The Rest Of Traffic

I have to agree with Torren - going slower is safer. A slower speed gives more time to react to a changing environment. Riding on the 401, or a country road somewhere, the environment is always changing. Personally I ride with the flow of traffic - sometimes I'm faster and passing those that...

Installing HID's - yay or nay

If you replace the entire lamp with a proper projector - go for it. If you just use one of the cheap conversion kits please don't. People may not flash you, but I promise that the cheap HID's will bother people. Short wheelbase bikes will bounce over ruts, etc... in the road and will certainly...

6 Things Nobody Tells You About Owning a Motorcycle

Spider thing's kinda funny. I remember very well when I was riding down the dvp, very slowly in traffic and I had my visor up to get some fresh air in. A bug of some sort flew in and managed to get between my helmet and my ear. I could feel the wings near my ear canal. After calmly getting to...

Where to buy motorcycle engine oil in downtown?

If your bike requires Xw50 - go to Canadian Tire and get Mobil 1 15w50 in the big containers - goes on sale all the time. I run it in my Beemer as do many others - never had issues. J

King and Bathurst where to park

I park on work property at Front/Spadina, but I see many bikes every day on Wellington just west of Spadina that never have an issue. You can also park on Wellington west of Bathurst if you work somewhere like 720 king - just walk through the condo driveway to get to work. Niagra st also has a...
