    Milton - Vancouver on R6 - July 2012

Optional: - Inflatable mattress. It packs fairly small, alas quite heavy, but provides a much better rest at night. - Sunscreen (you can pick up one anywhere on your way after the first sunburn ;)). - Bandana for the helmetless states (dare to try it without the lid?). - Flashlight, batteries...

    Milton - Vancouver on R6 - July 2012

If you can afford to stay as many days as you want on this trip, then staying away from the superslab is fine. But if your time / budget is limited, then it would make sense to use the slab in order to save time and stay more in another area. For example, I would rather slab it to South Dakota...

Milton - Vancouver in July 2012

If you can detour to South Dakota / Wyoming there are some amazing roads and sights (Badlands National Park, Black Hills both in South Dakota, Devil's Tower, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming). Hwy 212 in Montana (called Beartooth Highway http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beartooth_Highway, an...

Looking to get into long distance riding, need some pointers

While any trip can be done without a GPS, having one is very convenient. Gives you distance to destination, ETA, POI (gas stations, food, lodging, etc), information that is generally not on the map and is valuable in remote areas. Free state/province maps are available at the visitor centers...

    Winter Riding Down South

That's how I felt last winter. Being on a budget, I opted to trailer down my bike. Florida is less that 1,800km from Toronto, which could be reached in a little more than a day of driving, sleep included. http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?136587-Searching-for-the-Sun-March-2011

    US phone SIM card

I am using an AT&T GoPhone card (pay as you go, also with a $2 daily unlimited plan). It wprks on an unlocked Rpgers/Fido phone. Prepaing $100 will keep the number active for one year, and since recently, the phone/card can be used in Canada as well for $0.40/minute, which is the same price that...

    US Address.com

Used their services a number of times and was always treated respectfully. If you are heading there on a weekend, check ahead the border wait times, one Saturday I was stuck at Lewiston for 3 hrs, while Rainbow Bridge was moving much faster. For a weekend trip, the earlier you go, the quicker...

Scrapping a vehicle across the border

If the vehicle used to travel across the border becomes disabled, and the repair or the towing costs are greater that the vehicle's value, is it permitted to scrap it locally and if it is are there any complications (like import duties, etc.)?

    Camping/Lodging at the Deals Gap?

I was there in 2009, mid July and was able to get a room at Philips Motel one night (cheap, but OK) and at Fontana Village the other night (moderately priced, excellent room) without prior reservation. Deals Gap resort was fully booked.

How to save money in 2011

Luggage carts at Pearson: $2 at the Departure level and free around the checkin desks and at the Arrival levels (many travellers do not bother to return them for $0.25). Financial discipline + reward cc = cash. Riding to work instead of taking the GO train. Doing the maintenance on my vehicles...

    Roadtrip to Vegas

This picture is from the plateau, the slope side is a different beast :-). Also you mentioned Vegas and no Grand Canyon? I would understand that if you've been there, already. If you have a few extra days on the return trip, I would suggest to spend a day or more in the Black Hills area (Mt...

    Roadtrip to Vegas

If your brother lives in Billings, I'm sure he heard about Hwy 212 (Beartooth Hwy), one of the best roads in America. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beartooth_Highway

Having kids, father gets no say ?

That is simple: most people believe that killing an 8 months old infant is unacceptable, some believe that doing the same for a -8 months old is the same. But from there it gets more complex, I've grown up in a country where abortion were illegal and I've seen the ugly side of the pro life...

    Follow Along: 600rr to California

Check out this thread again, does it look like he was alone? And while at times it's good to have someone to share your thoughts, finding a compatible rider is difficult, going with one that is not quite could be a receipe for disaster.
